Preity Zinta has addressed the response to her latest release Batwara 1947, starring alongside Sunny Deol. While the historical drama did not deliver the expected results at the box office, the actor says she has no regrets about being part of the project.

In a recent conversation with Mid-Day, Preity reflected on the film’s journey and explained why she continues to value the experience, regardless of its commercial outcome.

The actor emphasised that she approaches every film by giving her complete commitment rather than trying to predict how audiences or the box office will eventually respond.

For Preity, the commercial result is only one part of a film’s journey.

She also spoke about her belief in karma and said that once an actor has done the work sincerely, the eventual outcome is not always within their control.

Her comments suggest that she views Batwara 1947 through the lens of the work that went into making it rather than solely through its box-office numbers.

She said she believes in putting in her best effort and leaving the eventual result to fate.

The sentiment is particularly relevant for a film such as Batwara 1947, which arrived with considerable expectations because of its subject, cast and the reunion of Preity Zinta and Sunny Deol.

Rather than treating the film’s theatrical performance as a measure of the entire experience, Preity has chosen to focus on the work itself.

Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta Share the Screen Again

Batwara 1947 brought Preity Zinta and Sunny Deol together again in a period drama centred on the Partition era.

The film was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and generated interest before release because of its historical setting and the reunion of two actors who have previously worked together.

The film also arrived during a competitive theatrical period, with other releases competing for audience attention.

Despite the expectations surrounding it, Batwara 1947 struggled to establish a strong commercial run.

For Preity, however, the response has not diminished her pride in the project.

A Different Way of Looking at Box Office Results

Preity’s comments also highlight the uncertainty that comes with theatrical releases.

An actor can control their preparation, performance and commitment to a role, but factors such as release timing, audience preferences, competition and word of mouth can influence a film’s eventual performance.

Her approach is therefore straightforward: give the project everything during production and accept the result once the film reaches audiences.

That philosophy has remained part of how Preity says she approaches her career.

What Is Preity Zinta Doing Next?

After Batwara 1947, Preity Zinta is set to appear in Vibe, a comedy-drama featuring Kunal Kemmu in an important role.

The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on September 18, 2026, according to the information available around the project.

The upcoming film will mark another phase in Preity’s return to the big screen as she continues taking on new projects after a relatively selective period in her acting career.

For now, the actor’s message surrounding Batwara 1947 is clear: a film’s box-office performance does not erase the effort, memories or creative experience behind it.

Despite the disappointing theatrical response, Preity Zinta remains proud of the film and the journey of making it.
