After six years in Canada and a corporate career at Deloitte, Preeti Bisnik has decided to return to India, saying her ageing parents, personal health and desire for a break from corporate life have become more important to her than continuing her career abroad.
Preeti Bisnik has decided to leave her corporate job in Canada and return to India after spending six years building her professional life there.
Her decision, however, was not triggered by a layoff or a lack of employment opportunities.
In an Instagram video shared on September 22, Preeti explained that she had resigned from her job and was preparing to return home. She said her manager had even offered her the possibility of taking some time away before potentially returning to the company.

Why Preeti Decided to Return to India
Preeti said her parents are getting older and that her mother’s health has made her think more seriously about being physically present for her family.
She said her mother is dealing with glaucoma as well as mobility difficulties. Being thousands of kilometres away has become increasingly difficult for Preeti, who does not want to reach a point where she regrets not spending enough time with her parents.
Her decision also reflects her own interest in health and nutrition. Having studied nutrition in Canada, she wants to use what she has learned to help her parents focus on areas such as nutrition, fitness and strength.
Rather than immediately searching for another corporate position after returning to India, Preeti said she wants to spend some time with her family and work on herself.

She Was Not Laid Off
One point Preeti specifically addressed was whether she had been forced to leave her Canadian job.
She clarified that she was not laid off.

As a Canadian citizen, Preeti can continue to live and work in Canada. Her decision to return to India was therefore presented as a personal choice rather than one driven by immigration or employment difficulties.
Her Own Health Journey Also Influenced the Decision
Preeti’s decision to take a break from corporate life is also connected to her own health and fitness goals.
She said she weighed around 78 kg when she moved from India to Canada. Over the following six years, her weight increased to nearly 100 kg.
She has since lost approximately 10 kg and now wants to devote more time to improving her fitness.
After years of working in a sedentary, computer-based corporate environment, Preeti said she wants to step away from that routine and concentrate on her health and personal life for a while.
Her plans do not involve immediately replacing one corporate job with another.
Why Not Bring Her Parents to Canada?
Preeti’s decision prompted questions from social media users about why she could not simply bring her parents to Canada.
She addressed that question by explaining that relocating her parents would not necessarily be straightforward, particularly because of her mother’s health.
According to Preeti, her mother has glaucoma and mobility problems, which could make a long-distance flight difficult. Her father is also elderly.
She also clarified that she is not her parents’ only child. Her brothers, she said, live in the United States and London.
Despite having siblings living in different countries, Preeti said she wants to be physically closer to her parents during this stage of their lives.
Social Media Users Support Her Choice
Preeti’s announcement received a largely supportive response online.
Several users praised her for placing family and personal priorities ahead of continuing a corporate career abroad.
One commenter wrote:
“Parents are more important than any country or a job.”
Another user encouraged her to believe that professional opportunities would still be available in India, while a third praised the courage it took to make such a major change and wished her and her parents well.
The responses reflected the emotional reaction her decision generated among people who could relate to the challenge of living far away from ageing parents.
A Career Break With a Different Priority
Preeti’s story is not necessarily about rejecting life in Canada or declaring that returning to India is the right choice for everyone.
Instead, her explanation centres on her circumstances and priorities at this particular stage of her life.
After six years abroad, she has chosen to spend more time with her parents, work on her own health and step away from corporate employment before deciding what comes next.
For now, Preeti appears to be entering a different phase of her life — one in which family, health and personal time take precedence over continuing the same professional path she had built in Canada.
