Malayalam actor Pranav Mohanlal continues to remain one of the most intriguing personalities in the industry. He is known for his silent work pattern — collaborating with top directors, completing his shoot schedules without major promotions, and then disappearing from the spotlight immediately after release.

Following the successful opening of his latest horror thriller Dies Irae, which premiered to strong reviews last Friday, Pranav was once again spotted leaving Kerala soon after.

Suchitra Mohanlal on her son’s rare film frequency

Pranav’s mother, Suchitra Mohanlal, was asked about his career choices and long gaps in his filmography. Speaking at the exit of the Dies Irae premiere, she said that audiences have now accepted Pranav’s rhythm.

“People have gotten used to this now. They know he does only one film every two years. They are used to this way. He just returned recently. I don’t know when the next film will happen,” she shared.

Even during the puja ceremony of her daughter Vismaya Mohanlal’s debut film Thudakkam, Suchitra said this year is special for their family — with Pranav’s film releasing and Mohanlal winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

She added that if Pranav kept doing movies continuously, the excitement would be lost. Since his films arrive once every two years, every release feels like a new beginning.

Mohanlal on Pranav’s life choices

Superstar Mohanlal himself has spoken about his son’s unconventional lifestyle. Ahead of their film Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, he had said that Pranav gets to experience the freedom he once dreamt of.

Mohanlal shared that if he had the same liberty when he was younger, he too would have preferred to wander, travel and not stay in front of the camera constantly. He said he is happy that Pranav is exploring life, travelling the world, and taking up films at his own pace.

In fact, when Marakkar released, Pranav was already abroad — in Portugal — and had not even watched the final film in theatres.
