Mohanlal opens up about disagreements with directors

Malayalam cinema icon Mohanlal recently shared insights into his approach to filmmaking and working with directors. Speaking during a podcast interview organised by MyGov India, the veteran actor explained that he prefers to trust the director’s vision rather than engage in arguments over creative decisions.

According to Mohanlal, he considers himself a “director’s actor” and believes that any major discussions about the script should ideally take place before filming begins.

During the conversation, Mohanlal said that he rarely disagrees with filmmakers once the project moves into production.

He explained that if any concerns arise, actors can ask the director for clarification. However, even if the explanation is not fully convincing, he feels it is important to continue working together and respect the director’s authority on the set.

The actor emphasised that once a film starts shooting, maintaining harmony on the set becomes more important than prolonged debates over creative choices.

Upcoming films of Mohanlal

On the work front, Mohanlal will next appear in the much-anticipated crime thriller Drishyam 3, directed by Jeethu Joseph. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on April 2, 2026 and will continue the story of the iconic character Georgekutty.

Reports suggest the third installment will explore how Georgekutty tries to keep his family safe while facing new threats and mounting pressure from adversaries determined to uncover the truth.

Several actors from the earlier films are expected to reprise their roles, including Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath, Murali Gopy, and Siddique.

A Hindi remake of Drishyam 3, starring Ajay Devgn, is also scheduled for release on October 2, 2026.

More projects in the pipeline

Apart from Drishyam 3, Mohanlal is currently working on an upcoming action-comedy tentatively titled L366, directed by Tharun Moorthy.

The actor is also set to make appearances in multiple projects, including the sequel Jailer 2 and Khalifa: Part 1. Additionally, he will share the screen with Mammootty in the film Patriot.

Meanwhile, the teaser for Drishyam 3 has reportedly received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and is expected to be released soon.
