Nearly four decades after appearing together in Clean and Sober, Michael Keaton and Morgan Freeman are joining forces again for a new feature film.
The pair will headline Rode To Ruin, a Western thriller directed by Keaton. Angel has acquired worldwide rights to the project and plans to release the film domestically while also taking it to the international sales market.
The announcement comes as Angel expands its business beyond distribution and enters the international pre-sales space.

Angel acquired the project from Revelations Entertainment, the company associated with McCreary and Freeman, and Keaton’s George & Leona Productions.
The collaboration also brings together production companies with established experience in feature filmmaking.
Angel Expands Into International Film Sales
Angel’s acquisition of Rode To Ruin represents an important step for the company as it expands its international business.
The company already has distribution partnerships in several overseas territories for its films. However, the project marks its first move into international pre-sales.
Angel plans to begin international sales for Rode To Ruin at TIFF: The Market, giving overseas buyers an opportunity to acquire rights before the film is completed.
Jared Geesey, EVP of International at Angel, said the company had spent the previous two years developing an international distribution network through which Angel films have been released theatrically in more than 95 countries.
“Presales are the natural next step for that business,” Geesey said.
He explained that the model allows international partners to become involved earlier in the filmmaking process, with those commitments helping support the production of projects selected by the company’s distribution system.
How Angel’s Guild-Based Model Works
Angel operates with a distinctive distribution model involving the Angel Guild.
Members of the Guild screen projects and vote on the films and series that they believe should receive distribution through Angel’s theatrical and platform operations.
David Fischer, VP of Acquisitions and Business Affairs at Angel, said Rode To Ruin fits the type of storytelling the Guild seeks.
“Rode to Ruin is the kind of exceptional, character-driven story that the Angel Guild is looking for—an honest story told with integrity and a genuine sense of purpose,” Fischer said.
He also pointed to the connection between the film’s creative team and Angel’s own stated mission.
Revelations Entertainment On The Partnership
Producer Lori McCreary said the partnership between Revelations Entertainment and Angel was a natural fit because of the companies’ shared emphasis on storytelling and purpose.
“Angel’s mission is to spread light, and ours at Revelations has always been to reveal truth,” McCreary said.
She added that Angel’s team understood the creative vision behind Rode To Ruin from the outset.
Angel’s Upcoming Slate
Rode To Ruin joins a wider slate of projects associated with Angel, including Runner, Hershey and Zero A.D.
The company’s international expansion comes as it seeks to establish a broader theatrical footprint while bringing its Guild-driven approach to more territories.
For Rode To Ruin, the TIFF market will represent an early opportunity to introduce the project to international buyers.
When Will Rode To Ruin Be Released?
Rode To Ruin is currently expected to launch in 2027.
A specific theatrical release date and production start date have not yet been announced.
