Iranian-born actor Mandana Karimi has revealed that she is preparing to leave India and return to her home country amid ongoing political developments and personal challenges. The actor, who has built her modelling and acting career in India, said she feels increasingly disconnected and unheard.
Speaking in a recent interaction with Bollywood Hungama, Mandana shared her vision of a “free Iran” where women have the right to choose how they live, dress, and study. She expressed hope for a future where Iran maintains strong and peaceful ties across the Middle East.
“The moment they announce that this regime is gone, I will go,” she said, reiterating her desire to return once political conditions change.
“I Feel I Am Breaking Up With India”
Mandana admitted that the decision has not been easy. Having moved to India at a young age, she credits the country for shaping her professional journey.
“India has given me everything — my modelling career, my acting career, and the love I received,” she shared. “But I feel I don’t have a voice in India.”
According to the actor, her outspoken stance against the current Iranian regime and participation in protests in Mumbai have strained several personal relationships. She said she lost a number of friends after publicly expressing her views.

Mandana described the past two months as emotionally difficult. Despite having an established social circle in Mumbai, she said she has felt deeply homesick and alone.
“I have never felt so homesick and lonely in Bombay. I went to protests and spoke openly about Iran, and I lost a lot of so-called friends,” she stated.
The actor added that while India offered her professional growth and recognition, she now believes it is time to move forward.
A Possible New Chapter in Iran
Mandana concluded by confirming that her bags are packed and that relocating to Iran is currently her plan. She expressed hope that the move will allow her to reconnect with her roots and witness a new chapter in her homeland.
While she has not announced a timeline, her remarks signal a significant transition in both her personal and professional life.
