Manasi Parekh Calls Returning to Mumbai Amid Nepal-Tibet Floods ‘Like Winning a War’

Mumbai: Actor Manasi Parekh has shared an emotional account of her difficult journey back to Mumbai after flash floods and landslides affected the Nepal-Tibet border region during her Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

The actor, who had been travelling in Tibet as part of the pilgrimage, took to social media to describe the challenges she faced while trying to leave the affected region. According to Parekh, the journey involved hours of waiting after a major landslide, a long road trip and a difficult walk through another affected area before she was finally able to continue towards Kathmandu.

Describing the ordeal, Parekh said that getting out of China and reaching the Nepal border “felt like winning a war”.

Despite the physical challenges and uncertainty of the journey, she said everything felt worthwhile because it ultimately meant returning home to Mumbai, reuniting with her family and seeing her daughter again.

Describing the difficulty of travelling out of the affected area, Parekh added that “the last 3-4 days have been overwhelming and getting out of China and reaching the Nepal border felt like winning a war”.

Her journey was made more difficult by a landslide near the Chinese town of Nyalam.

“There was a huge land slide at the China town of Nyalam which kept us waiting in our bus for 4 hours till we could start our journey out of China by road,” she shared.

The actor and her group were reportedly forced to wait inside their bus for several hours before they were able to continue their journey.

A Difficult Journey Towards the Nepal Border

Once the group was able to leave the affected area by road, the journey remained far from easy.

Parekh said the travellers then undertook a long bus journey of around 40 miles before reaching the Nepal border. However, another major obstacle awaited them there.

According to the actor, another landslide had affected the route near the border, leaving the group with no option but to walk through the damaged area to reach buses waiting on the other side.

“Then after a long bus ride of 40 miles we reached the border of Nepal where there had been another landslide which we had to walk through as there was no other way for us to make it till the buses waiting on the other side,” she wrote.

“And then it was the bumpiest bus ride of our lives as we made our way to Kathmandu which was 4 hours away,” she wrote.

“But all this was worth it because it meant coming back to Mumbai, to my family and getting to kiss my daughter,” she added.
