Mahiya Mahi Returns to Jaaz Multimedia With Female-Led Action Film ‘Ontorjami’

Mahiya Mahi is set to reunite with Jaaz Multimedia nearly a decade after her last major collaboration with the production house that launched her film career.

The actor has been officially confirmed as the lead of ‘Ontorjami’, an upcoming action film directed by Saikat Nasir. The project is being positioned as a female-led survival story, with Mahi at the centre alongside a nine-year-old child.

The announcement ends years of speculation about a possible reunion between the actor and Jaaz Multimedia.

Mahiya Mahi Returns to Her Career’s Starting Point

Mahi made her big-screen debut in Jaaz Multimedia’s ‘Bhalobashar Rong’ in 2012. She subsequently became one of the production house’s prominent stars, appearing in commercially successful films including ‘Agnee’, ‘Agnee 2’ and ‘Romeo vs Juliet’.

Her return to the banner therefore carries significance beyond simply adding another film to her upcoming slate.

Abdul Aziz, head of Jaaz Multimedia, confirmed the project and said the team wants to present Mahi in a fresh and more dynamic way.

According to Aziz, discussions with the actor took place last month before the project was finalised.

‘Ontorjami’ Has No Male Lead

One of the most distinctive aspects of Ontorjami is its central relationship between Mahi’s character and a nine-year-old child.

Aziz described the film as a survival story and said it will not feature a conventional male lead.

“Ontorjami picks up where Agnee 2 ended,” Aziz said. “It’s a survival story centered on Mahi and the child, featuring action sequences even more intense than Agnee.”

The concept places a female protagonist at the heart of an action-driven narrative, with the relationship between the adult character and the child expected to provide an important emotional component.

The production team is also promising a substantial action component as it seeks to create a different kind of commercial vehicle for Mahi.

Shooting Planned in the US, Thailand and Bangladesh

According to production sources, filming for Ontorjami is scheduled to begin in February 2026 in the United States.

The production will subsequently move to Thailand and Bangladesh for additional shooting schedules.

The film’s action sequences will be choreographed by Baba Yadav, the Kolkata-based choreographer known for working on large-scale commercial productions.

Jaaz Multimedia plans to complete the project and release it within the same year as production begins.

A New Chapter for Mahiya Mahi

The project could mark an important new phase for Mahi, particularly because Jaaz Multimedia is returning her to the kind of action-oriented commercial cinema that helped establish her early career.

However, Ontorjami is also being presented as a departure from the conventional male-led action format. With no male protagonist and the story built around Mahi and a child, the film gives the actor a more central responsibility for carrying both its action and emotional narrative.
