Mahhi Vij Breaks Silence On Divorce Buzz: Says Jay Bhanushali Is ‘Family’, Denies Alimony Talk

Television couple Mahhi Vij and Jay Bhanushali have been trending across social media this week after reports claimed the two had quietly signed divorce papers between July and August — and that Mahhi allegedly asked for ₹5 crore as alimony.

Mahhi has now spoken publicly on the chatter — but she has not confirmed or denied the marital status.

In a new vlog on her YouTube channel, she said she is aware of the viral speculation, but firmly dismissed the alimony claim.

“Please don’t believe any news until I say it myself. Respect our privacy and our children’s privacy,” she said.

Mahhi also challenged the “signed documents” claims, adding:

“Those saying papers are signed — please show proof. Where are the documents?”

‘Jay will always be family’

While Mahhi avoided saying the word “husband” in the video — something fans instantly noticed — she spoke warmly about Jay.

“Jay is my family and will always be my family. He’s a wonderful father and a wonderful human being.”

She also said such news impacts their kids — and revealed their son actually sent her one of the reports asking what was happening.

‘I don’t believe in alimony’

Mahhi reiterated her long-held view that financial independence matters.

“Forget my case — but I don’t understand alimony. Whoever earns should keep their own money. Women should also be financially independent.”

This isn’t the first time she has addressed speculation around her personal life. On The Male Feminist podcast earlier this year, she had said with her signature candour:

“Even if something is true, why should I tell you? Are you my uncle? Will you pay my lawyer?”

Mahhi and Jay married in 2010. They are parents to daughter Tara (born 2019) and foster parents to Rajveer and Khushi (since 2017).
