Madalsa Sharma Reveals Why She Quit South Films After ‘Uncomfortable’ Encounters: “Main Nahi Kar Sakungi”

Actor Madalsa Sharma, who was last seen in The Bengal Files directed by Vivek Agnihotri, has opened up about her early struggles in the South Indian film industry — and the “uncomfortable experiences” that made her walk away from a promising career down South.
The Anupamaa actor and daughter-in-law of veteran star Mithun Chakraborty shared in a recent interview with Pinkvilla that certain interactions in the industry made her uneasy at a very young age, ultimately prompting her to return to Mumbai.
“Ek-aadh experience pleasant nahi the mere wahan pe, jo mujhe laga ki main nahi kar sakungi. Wo path main nahi le sakungi,” Madalsa said, recalling her early years in cinema.
“I Felt Uncomfortable and Walked Out”
Madalsa, who began acting as a teenager, revealed she faced a situation that left her uncomfortable — though she clarified she was not directly subjected to any casting couch incident.

The actor emphasized that while ambition is important, she has always prioritized her comfort and principles over fame or career shortcuts. “Everyone has goals, but mine have never been so strong that they take over my values,” she said, adding that she’s clear about what she will and won’t do for work.
Proud of Her Legacy and Family Support
Despite the early setbacks, Madalsa continues to celebrate her cinematic lineage and family’s achievements. Her father-in-law, Mithun Chakraborty, was recently honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest film honour — a moment of pride for the entire family.
Madalsa said the recognition reminded her that every actor’s journey is unique. “We all have different paths, and that’s what makes this industry so special,” she added.
