Maanvi Gagroo Recalls Shocking “₹1 Lakh + Compromise” Text, Says She Didn’t Understand Industry Terms as Newcomer

Actor Maanvi Gagroo has opened up about unsettling and confusing experiences she faced during the early phase of her career, highlighting how newcomers in the entertainment industry often struggle to interpret unfamiliar terminology and situations.

Speaking on the Two Girls & Two Cups podcast, the Four More Shots Please! actor recalled an incident where she received a text message offering “₹1 lakh plus compromise” for a project.

Confusing Message in Early Career

Maanvi shared that she was completely new to the industry at the time and did not understand the implication of the message.

She revealed that she even replied asking what “compromise” meant, assuming it could be related to budgeting or financial adjustments.

She said she initially interpreted it in a literal and harmless way, thinking it might refer to something like cost negotiation or additional charges.

Mentor Advised Immediate Action

Unsure how to respond, Maanvi consulted a casting director she trusted, whom she described as a mentor figure.

According to her, he immediately advised her to delete the message and block the sender without engaging further.

Reflecting on the incident, she expressed surprise that such a proposition was made through text, noting that people typically avoid leaving written evidence of inappropriate requests.

Maanvi further stated that such experiences highlight the difficulties faced by newcomers who do not have industry connections.

She pointed out that understanding industry behaviour, informal communication codes, and hidden expectations can be especially challenging for outsiders.

Another Experience With Magazine Offer

In a separate incident, Maanvi also recalled being approached for a photoshoot with Debonair magazine early in her career.

Excited by the opportunity, she initially agreed without researching the publication. However, after discussing it with her then-partner, she was advised to look into it more carefully.

Upon doing so, she reconsidered and ultimately chose to decline the offer.
