During the press briefing, Gandhi claimed that a photograph of a Brazilian model appeared multiple times across voter lists in the state, under Indian names like Seema, Sweety, and Saraswati. Soon after, social media users mistakenly identified the model as Larissa Bonesi, resulting in a flood of comments on her Instagram posts.

Despite the viral attention, Larissa Bonesi has not responded to the online buzz. The confusion originated due to another Brazilian model, Larissa Nery, who later clarified that she was the woman in Gandhi’s photograph. Nery shared screenshots from the press conference and posted a video explaining, “They are using an old photo of mine from when I was 18 or 20. I don’t know what this is about, but it’s crazy that they’re portraying me as an Indian.”
