Kriti Sanon’s appearance in a promotional video for Obsession has prompted appreciative reactions from viewers, with some calling for filmmakers to give her more challenging roles.
The video, shared by JioHotstar on October 29, features Sanon and Varun Dhawan recreating the supernatural thriller’s unsettling “no no no no” sequence. Both actors also voice the lead characters in the film’s Hindi-dubbed edition.
Fans respond to Kriti’s performance
Some viewers singled out Sanon’s acting in the recreation, praising her range and expressing interest in seeing her explore similarly intense characters.
Others suggested that Sanon and Dhawan could suit an Indian adaptation of the film. Those comments are audience casting preferences, however, rather than evidence of a remake being developed. The announced collaboration is for the Hindi dub and its promotional campaign.
The distinction matters because the actors’ on-camera recreation is separate from the feature itself. In the Hindi edition, their voices accompany the original screen performances.
Who do Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan voice?
Sanon voices Nikki, played in the original film by Inde Navarrette. Dhawan voices Bear, originally portrayed by Michael Johnston.
Directed by Curry Barker, Obsession follows a young man whose wish for romantic affection takes a frightening turn. Amar Kaushik is associated with bringing together the Hindi adaptation.
Sanon describes a new acting challenge
Speaking about the project in comments reported by NDTV, Sanon said it was her first experience dubbing another actor’s performance. She described Nikki as an unusually edgy character and said the assignment was exciting and challenging.
Dhawan said the process allowed him to examine the film more closely and notice details he had missed on an earlier viewing.
Voice adaptation requires a performer to work within an existing scene: the timing, expressions and physical performance are already established. The task is to convey the character’s emotions in another language while fitting those choices.
The promotional recreation gives viewers a separate opportunity to see Sanon and Dhawan interpret a moment on camera.
