At a time when high-octane action films are dominating cinema halls, Kapil Sharma’s return to the big screen with a comedy has begun on a muted note. Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 has entered theatres, but its opening-day box office numbers have raised concerns.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the romantic comedy collected approximately Rs 1.75 crore on its first day. Directed by Anukalp Goswami, the film faces stiff competition from ongoing blockbusters, especially Dhurandhar, which continues to dominate the box office.
Tough Competition at the Box Office
Dhurandhar has already crossed the Rs 240 crore mark within eight days of release and shows no signs of slowing down. In addition, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 is expected to face further pressure with the upcoming release of James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash on December 19, a film that is generating massive anticipation among audiences.
While Kapil Sharma’s film currently finds itself struggling for screens, trade experts believe that collections could see some improvement over the weekend. However, a weak trend beyond the opening weekend may result in reduced show counts across multiplexes.

The film recorded an average occupancy of 16.45 percent on its opening day. Morning shows saw a low turnout of 5.91 percent, while afternoon shows stood at 13.90 percent. Occupancy improved slightly during the evening at 17.21 percent and peaked at 28.77 percent during night shows.
Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 was screened across 1,558 shows nationwide, with Delhi-NCR and Mumbai contributing the highest number of screenings.
Comparison With the First Film
The original Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon had performed significantly better at the box office, earning Rs 10.2 crore on its opening day and going on to collect Rs 49.9 crore during its theatrical run. The sequel’s opening figures are considerably lower by comparison.
