Karuppu Box Office Collection Day 2: Suriya’s Film Crosses ₹66 Crore Worldwide

Suriya’s latest film Karuppu continued its strong theatrical run on its second day, registering a significant rise in collections and pushing its worldwide box office total past ₹66 crore within just two days of release.

Directed by RJ Balaji, the action drama witnessed strong audience turnout across multiple regions on Saturday, supported by positive word-of-mouth and improved occupancy during evening and night shows.

According to industry tracking estimates, Karuppu earned approximately ₹23.40 crore in India net collections on Day 2, marking a sharp increase from its opening-day performance. The film’s total India net collection now stands at around ₹38.90 crore, while its India gross collection has crossed ₹45 crore.

Internationally, the film also maintained momentum, adding nearly ₹10 crore overseas on its second day. With this, the worldwide gross collection has reportedly reached ₹66 crore.

The Tamil version remained the film’s strongest market, contributing the majority of the collections. Occupancy rates improved significantly during late-night screenings, particularly in Tamil Nadu, where several theatres reported packed shows over the weekend.

Regional performance also remained steady across Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and other territories, helping the film maintain strong nationwide traction.

Despite its current success, Karuppu faced multiple hurdles ahead of release. Reports suggested that financial and distribution-related issues led to the cancellation of several scheduled screenings on opening day across parts of Tamil Nadu. Morning and afternoon shows were reportedly affected before the release stabilized later in the day.

Director RJ Balaji had earlier addressed the situation through social media, acknowledging the challenges surrounding the release and expressing confidence that the film would overcome its difficulties. Several exhibitors and theatre owners publicly extended support to the filmmaker during the delay period.

The film had already generated strong advance booking numbers prior to release, signaling high anticipation among audiences. It also received special permission for early morning screenings in Tamil Nadu, a privilege granted only to select major releases in recent years.

Karuppu marks the reunion of Suriya and Trisha Krishnan after nearly two decades since Aaru in 2005. The cast also includes Yogi Babu, Indrans, Sshivada, Swasika, Natty, Supreeth Reddy, and Anagha Maya Ravi in important roles.

The story centers around a father-daughter duo trapped in a prolonged legal battle, with Suriya playing Saravanan, a mysterious figure connected to themes inspired by Karuppusamy folklore. RJ Balaji appears in a negative role as lawyer Baby Kannan, while Trisha portrays advocate Preethi.

The film’s technical team features music composer Sai Abhyankkar, cinematographer GK Vishnu, editor R Kalaivanan, and production designer Arun Venjaramoodu.

With strong weekend momentum and growing audience interest, Karuppu is expected to continue its solid performance at the box office in the coming days.
