Actress Jyoti Tiwari, currently seen in Hui Gumm Yadein, says her approach to acting has changed significantly as she has gained experience. While she once concentrated heavily on getting every aspect of a performance technically right, she now focuses more on understanding her character and emotionally connecting with a scene.
Reflecting on her journey, Jyoti says her early approach was centred on precision. “I think I’ve changed a lot as an actor. In the beginning, I was more focused on getting everything right — my dialogues, expressions, where I had to stand, everything,” she recalls.
With time, however, she says experience has made her more relaxed and instinctive in front of the camera.

The actress also believes that growing confidence on set has played an important role in this transition. Instead of concentrating only on individual technical details, she says she has learned from every character she has portrayed.
“I’ve also become more confident on set, and I think every character I’ve played has taught me something and added to me as an actor,” Jyoti adds.
Her Father Remains Her Biggest Inspiration
While professional experience has shaped her acting, Jyoti credits her family, particularly her father, for influencing her approach to work.
“My biggest mentor has always been my family, but especially my father,” she says.

“I’ve seen him working all my life, and what really inspired me is his consistency and hard work. He works really hard. I’ve learnt a lot just by watching him,” she adds.
For Jyoti, mentorship has also come through the people she has encountered during her career. She says several colleagues and industry professionals have guided her at different stages.

She views those interactions as an important part of an actor’s development. “I feel every person you meet and every experience you have can become a kind of mentor in your journey,” she adds.
Jyoti Tiwari Wants to Explore OTT, Films and Television
Looking ahead, Jyoti wants to avoid limiting herself to a single medium or type of character. Her long-term ambition is to take on projects that challenge her and allow her to continue learning.
“My long-term goal is to keep growing as an actor and do work that challenges me,” she says.
The actress is keen to explore television, films and OTT projects, depending on the opportunities they offer.
“I want to explore different characters and different formats — television, films, OTT, whatever gives me an opportunity to learn something new. I don’t want to restrict myself to one kind of role,” Jyoti says.
‘I Want People to Recognise Me for My Work’
For Jyoti, career growth is ultimately about building a body of work rather than being identified with a single character.
“I just want to keep working, keep evolving and hopefully reach a point where people recognise me for my work and not just for one particular character,” she concludes.
