Jaya Ahsan Set for Dual Release With ‘Fereshte’ and ‘Jaya Aar Sharmin’

Jaya Ahsan is set for a busy month as two of her projects are scheduled to reach audiences in different formats.

The acclaimed actress will appear on the big screen with ‘Fereshte’, her Bangladesh-Iran co-production directed by Iranian filmmaker Murtaza Atash Zamzam, while ‘Jaya Aar Sharmin’ is set to arrive on the Chorki streaming platform.

The back-to-back releases highlight Jaya’s expanding presence across theatrical cinema and OTT, while also reflecting her growing involvement behind the camera as a producer.

‘Fereshte’ Heads Toward Theatres

‘Fereshte’ is expected to receive a theatrical release in September, although an exact release date has yet to be officially confirmed.

Lion Cinemas and Star Cineplex have both indicated that the film could arrive in theatres this month.

The Bangladesh-Iran co-production tells the story of a disadvantaged family and the struggles they face, with Jaya taking a central role.

The cast also includes Suman Faruk, Rikita Nandini Shimu, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Shahed Ali, Shaheen Mridha and child artiste Sathi.

Jaya is also a co-producer of the project, adding another dimension to her involvement with the film.

An Award-Winning Festival Journey

Before its anticipated commercial release, ‘Fereshte’ premiered at the Dhaka International Film Festival and went on to receive recognition at several international events.

The film’s festival journey has helped build interest ahead of its Bangladeshi theatrical release.

‘Jaya Aar Sharmin’ Comes to Chorki

While ‘Fereshte’ prepares for cinemas, Jaya will also return to audiences through Chorki with ‘Jaya Aar Sharmin’.

Directed by Piplu R Khan, the film originally premiered in cinemas on May 16 and is now set to stream on the OTT platform this month.

The story explores the changing relationship between two women during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jaya plays herself, while Mohsina Akhtar Sharmin portrays the other central character, Sharmin. Their lives, once closely connected, gradually move in different directions as the pandemic changes their circumstances.

Jaya also served as a co-producer on the project.

Jaya Continues Her Strong Run Across Two Bengals

The two releases come during a particularly active period in Jaya Ahsan’s career.

The actress has continued to work across both Bangladesh and West Bengal, balancing theatrical films with streaming projects.

Earlier this year, she made her web-series debut with ‘Jimmi’, which arrived in March. She subsequently appeared in several theatrical projects, including ‘Putul Nacher Itikatha’ in West Bengal.
