Indira Krishna: “Family Comes First, I Make Ample Time to Give My Best”
MUMBAI: Actress Indira Krishna, currently portraying Durgawati in Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan, opens up about balancing her career with family life, while preparing for her upcoming Bollywood film Ramayana.
Having worked in shows like Jatadhara, Krishnaben Khakhrawala, Krishnadasi, and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Krishna reflects on the sacrifices involved in the entertainment industry.
“Every job has its pros and cons — you can’t get everything together. One step at a time. Time teaches us all, especially in our industry. There are times you compromise on time, destination, distance, roles, or payments. It’s a lot of sacrifice. For me, this role was a choice to make myself worthy within the time limit. Family comes first, and I make ample time before or after a project to give my best to them. There’s joy in both — work and family,” she says.
Choosing Roles with Substance
Krishna emphasizes the importance of meaningful roles in her career:
“For me, the role is very important — the shade, the character, and how it’s linked to the story. I’ve always made a mark by doing roles of substance, roles that are important to the story.”
She recalls her experience on Yeh Hai Chahatein:

Currently shooting in Chandigarh, away from her family, Krishna maintains that her approach to work and life is about balance, discipline, and making conscious choices.
“There’s joy in giving your best to work and family. Both are equally rewarding, and I strive to honor that in every project I take on,” she concludes.
