Huma Qureshi Says Her Villain Act in Delhi Crime Season 3 is The Darkest of Her Career — “Evil Suits Me”

Mumbai: Actor Huma Qureshi is pushing the boundaries of grey characters in the third season of the International Emmy winning Netflix franchise Delhi Crime. Speaking at the trailer launch, she revealed that her role in Season 3 is the most disturbing and morally corrupt character she has ever portrayed on screen.

In the new season, Shefali Shah returns as DIG Vartika Chaturvedi, leading an intensive nationwide investigation into a human trafficking network. Qureshi joins the universe as Meena also known as Badi Didi — a cold, calculated, ruthless trafficker who treats exploitation like business.

Calling her role “dark, disgusting and emotionally exhausting,” Qureshi admitted she had to shed her natural empathy to perform it convincingly.

“Evil suits me. This is by far the darkest character of my career. I had to mentally prepare myself because of who I am as a person. But this role demanded absolute honesty,” her statement read.

Qureshi added that she was thrilled to join a cast she has admired since Season 1.

“Joining this universe felt like getting a favourite toy as a child. The Delhi Crime team welcomed me warmly and I wanted to match their excellence,” she said.

While the character is negative, Qureshi said she always seeks stories that reflect womens perspectives — and believes even a villainous storyline can spark awareness around exploitation.

“This series holds a mirror to society. If the audience hates my character and still remembers the subject, then I feel this was worth it.”

The makers say Season 3 is leaner, more intense and structured for global appeal — keeping the storytelling rooted in India but packaged to resonate with international viewers.

The season is written by Tanuj Chopra, Anu Singh Choudhary, Apoorva Bakshi, Michael Hogan, Mayank Tiwari and Shubhra Swarup. It is backed by Golden Karavan and SK Global Entertainment.

Delhi Crime Season 3 streams on Netflix from November 13.
