Simrann M Bhambani, an assistant brand manager (marketing) at Flipkart, shared her observation through a short Instagram video filmed at Bengaluru airport, just as she was heading home for the holidays. Her casual reflection resonated with thousands of working professionals who recognise the unspoken rhythm of year-end workdays.

“In winters, especially after December 20, it kind of feels like a low-key winter break,” Bhambani said in the video. “People either start working from home or use up their remaining leaves.”

She explained that while there is no officially declared shutdown, the office atmosphere naturally eases as calendars empty, meetings reduce, and teams become more flexible with remote work.

‘Feels Like School Holidays Again’

Bhambani said she chose to travel earlier than most to avoid the sharp rise in flight prices closer to the festive rush. The experience, she added, brought back a familiar feeling.

“It honestly feels like I’m a kid again, going home for winter vacations,” she said, comparing the corporate slowdown to school holiday season.

However, she was quick to clarify that this period doesn’t mean work completely pauses.

“Of course, work is still happening. It’s not like everything stops. But there’s definitely more flexibility, especially with work from home,” she explained.
