Mumbai, November 22, 2025: Bollywood actor-director Farhan Akhtar, who was recently seen in the war drama 120 Bahadur, has opened up about the long-pending Jee Le Zaraa, his highly anticipated directorial project starring Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt.
The film, announced in 2021, has faced multiple delays due to scheduling conflicts between the three leading actresses. In a candid interview with Samdish Bhatia on YouTube, Akhtar revealed that he had turned down several acting projects to focus entirely on directing Jee Le Zaraa, but the shooting dates kept being postponed.
“It just kept getting delayed, and for those two years, I kept saying no to all other opportunities that came my way. I did that because when you have to direct, you can only focus on that,” Akhtar said.
Stress and Personal Insecurities During the Delay
Farhan admitted that the prolonged delay was emotionally taxing.
“It was such a stressful period because I thought that I was wasting time, and before I knew it, two and a half years had gone by. There are some personal insecurities as well. I started feeling that maybe people will think that I wouldn’t be able to direct. It had been 12 years since I had directed a film, and maybe people would doubt my skills,” he added.
He also shared that therapy helped him understand and manage these insecurities, allowing him to remain committed to the project.

“I have finished all location scouts, recorded music for the film. So it’s just a matter of time before we come back and do it again. I can’t comment on the cast any more, like what that will be and when that will land. But will the film happen? Ya, it will,” Akhtar said.
Other Upcoming Projects
Apart from Jee Le Zaraa, Farhan Akhtar is set to direct Don 3, which will feature Ranveer Singh in the lead role along with Kriti Sanon. Shooting for Don 3 is expected to commence in 2026.
