Disha Salian Case: CBI Registers FIR After Bombay High Court Orders Probe

The Disha Salian death case has taken a fresh turn with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registering an FIR and beginning an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Salian’s death had initially been recorded as an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in Mumbai. The latest development follows directions from the Bombay High Court for a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The case has continued to attract public attention because Salian died only days before Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Bandra residence in June 2020.

CBI Registers FIR Following Bombay High Court Direction

Disha Salian was found dead in Mumbai on June 8, 2020, after falling from a residential building. Mumbai Police initially registered an ADR in the matter.

The case later came before the Bombay High Court after concerns were raised by Salian’s family about the original investigation.

During proceedings, a Division Bench comprising Justice Bharti Dangre and Justice Manjusha Deshpande questioned why the matter had continued as an ADR despite allegations made by Salian’s family that she had been murdered.

The court also took note of the fact that Salian’s family had reportedly not received copies of important documents, including her post-mortem report and the ADR, even years after her death.

The CBI’s FIR now opens a fresh investigation into the circumstances surrounding Salian’s death.

Satish Salian Says He Shared Names With Investigators

Salian’s father, Satish Salian, has said that he provided investigators with information about the circumstances surrounding his daughter’s death.

Speaking to ANI, he claimed that he shared the names of several individuals whom he wanted the investigating authorities to examine.

“I stated the facts exactly as they were; I told them everything that happened to my daughter. I listed all the names: Aditya, Sooraj Pancholi, Dino Morea, and the bodyguards. They noted everything down,” Satish Salian said.

He further claimed that investigators told him they would act on the information he had provided and that proceedings would begin shortly.

It is important to note that being named by a complainant or witness does not establish criminal involvement. Any role played by individuals mentioned in connection with the case will have to be determined by investigators on the basis of evidence.

Satish Salian also expressed confidence that the new investigation would ultimately reveal the truth.

“The truth cannot be defeated. God stands where the truth is; that is why justice will be served,” he said.

Shweta Singh Kirti Welcomes the Investigation

The CBI development has also received a reaction from Shweta Singh Kirti, Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister.

In a video shared on social media, Shweta spoke about the importance of truth and welcomed the investigation into Disha Salian’s death.

“Truth has its own power… it can be suppressed for some time, troubled, but it cannot be defeated,” she said.

Shweta also suggested that the CBI probe had renewed hope among people who had continued to seek answers surrounding the circumstances of Salian’s death and its proximity to Rajput’s death.

Disha Salian and Sushant Singh Rajput’s Deaths

Disha Salian’s death became closely associated with the wider public discussion surrounding Sushant Singh Rajput because of the timing of the two incidents.

Salian died on June 8, 2020, while Rajput was found dead on June 14. Rajput had been found at his Bandra home, and the two cases have been the subject of intense media and public scrutiny.

However, the circumstances of each death must be considered separately unless investigators establish a demonstrable connection through evidence.

The renewed CBI investigation into Salian’s case does not, by itself, establish a link between her death and Rajput’s death.

What Happens Next in the Disha Salian Case?

With the registration of the FIR, the CBI can now formally investigate the circumstances surrounding Salian’s death and examine material from the earlier Mumbai Police inquiry.

The agency is also expected to consider information provided by her family and other available evidence as part of its investigation.

For now, the CBI probe is ongoing, and no allegation against any individual should be treated as a finding of guilt. The eventual conclusions will depend on the evidence collected and the outcome of the legal process.

The FIR therefore represents a significant new chapter in a case that has remained under public scrutiny for years, but the investigation itself will determine what happened to Disha Salian and whether the earlier understanding of her death needs to be revised.
