How much would you spend to satisfy a craving for your favourite food?
For one Delhi-based content creator, a craving for an authentic Mumbai vada pav turned into an entire trip to the city — and, according to her Instagram video, a bill of around Rs 15,000 for a snack that cost just Rs 20.
The creator, who goes by Witty Space on social media, shared her unusual food adventure in a video that has prompted plenty of amused reactions online.
According to her account, the journey began after she tried vada pav in Delhi and felt that it did not taste like the version she was craving. She apparently became convinced that if she wanted the real Mumbai experience, she needed to go to Mumbai itself.

Delhi Woman Flies to Mumbai for Vada Pav
The creator said she was travelling in a cab towards Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport when she decided to book a flight to Mumbai.
According to her video, the flight cost around Rs 5,000.
Her food expenses had already begun before she even left Delhi. While waiting at the airport, she reportedly bought a cup of tea for Rs 165. Once aboard the flight, she said she spent another Rs 300 on cup noodles because she was hungry.
She eventually landed in Mumbai at around 7 pm.

Mumbai Traffic Adds to the Food Adventure
After arriving in Mumbai, the creator said that getting around the city took considerably longer than she expected.
She reportedly travelled around 11 kilometres in approximately 70 minutes, which she attributed to the city’s slow-moving traffic.

The following morning, however, the mission resumed.
She Wanted Street-Side Vada Pav, Not a Delivery
The creator said she wasn’t interested in ordering vada pav through a food-delivery app.
Instead, she wanted to experience the snack the way it is commonly enjoyed in Mumbai — freshly served from a street-side stall.
Eventually, she found a vendor selling vada pav for just Rs 20.
After spending thousands of rupees travelling from Delhi, staying overnight and covering other expenses, she finally got the snack she had travelled for.
‘Best Vada Pav of My Life’
According to the creator’s narration, the first bite made the entire journey feel worthwhile.
She said that after spending so much time and money on the trip, she believed the Mumbai vada pav lived up to its reputation.
Her experience, she suggested, proved that the iconic snack really does taste different in the city where it has become a cultural staple.
Whether everyone would agree is another question — but the dramatic price difference between the trip and the snack certainly caught the internet’s attention.
Internet Reacts to the Rs 15,000 Vada Pav
The video quickly became a talking point among social-media users.
Some viewers found the food mission entertaining and said they understood travelling for a dish that holds special appeal. Others couldn’t get over the economics of the trip.
After all, the creator reportedly spent around Rs 15,000 to reach Mumbai and eat a vada pav costing just Rs 20.
One person simply commented, “Worth it.”
Another user joked that they weren’t quite as obsessed with vada pav, while admitting they could understand missing the Mumbai-style snack.
A third commenter took a more humorous approach, suggesting that after spending Rs 15,000, praising the vada pav was almost inevitable.
But perhaps the most memorable reaction was the phrase “Ameero ke struggle”, roughly translating to “rich people’s problems”.
Why Mumbai Vada Pav Has Such a Cult Following
Vada pav may be one of India’s most inexpensive popular snacks, but its cultural significance goes well beyond its price.
The Mumbai staple consists of a spiced potato fritter placed inside a pav and generally accompanied by chutneys and dry garlic or other spicy accompaniments. It is closely associated with Mumbai’s street-food culture and has become popular far beyond Maharashtra.
For fans, however, the experience isn’t only about the ingredients.
The freshness of the pav, the texture of the batata vada, the chutneys, the spice level and the atmosphere of eating it from a local stall can all contribute to the appeal.
That may explain why some food lovers are willing to go considerably farther than expected in search of their favourite version.
Would You Spend Rs 15,000 for a Rs 20 Snack?
The viral food adventure has raised a simple question: how far is too far for a food craving?
For most people, spending Rs 15,000 on a Rs 20 snack may seem excessive. But food is rarely just about mathematics.
People routinely travel for regional specialities, nostalgic dishes and meals they associate with a particular place. For some, the journey itself becomes part of the experience.
In this case, at least according to the creator, the reward was a Mumbai street-side vada pav that she considered worth the extraordinary journey.
Whether it was genuinely the “best vada pav of her life” is subjective.
But one thing is certain: a Rs 20 snack has managed to generate a much bigger conversation online.
