Bollywood’s biggest stars command enormous fees, endorsement deals and business interests, but the industry’s wealth rankings can look very different when family holdings and large-scale business ownership are taken into account.
According to the Hurun India Rich List 2026, T-Series chairman and managing director Bhushan Kumar and his family have a reported wealth of ₹36,300 crore, placing them among the richest names associated with Bollywood.
The figure puts Kumar and his family well ahead of several of India’s best-known film stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan, whose reported fortunes are considerably lower in the same comparison.
Kumar was reportedly ranked 87th in Hurun India’s top 100 list.
Bhushan Kumar’s ₹36,300 Crore Wealth
Bhushan Kumar inherited and expanded one of India’s most influential entertainment businesses through T-Series, the music and film company founded by his late father, Gulshan Kumar.
The company’s interests span music, film production and other areas of entertainment, giving Kumar exposure to a business ecosystem that extends well beyond acting fees.
The Hurun estimate of ₹36,300 crore refers to Bhushan Kumar and his family’s reported wealth, an important distinction when comparing the figure with estimates attributed to individual actors.
Based on the figures cited in the report, Kumar’s family wealth is substantially higher than the reported fortunes of several leading Bollywood stars.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Reported ₹10,000 Crore Wealth
Shah Rukh Khan remains one of India’s wealthiest actors, with his reported fortune estimated at ₹10,000 crore in the figures cited from the 2026 Hurun list.
The report indicates that his wealth declined by approximately ₹2,490 crore compared with the previous year’s estimate.
Despite the reported decline, Shah Rukh Khan continued to feature prominently on the global celebrity wealth landscape. The 2026 Hurun Global List reportedly included him among international entertainment figures such as Jay-Z, Taylor Swift and Rihanna.
His wealth extends beyond acting, with investments and business interests contributing significantly to his financial profile.
Amitabh Bachchan’s Wealth Rises
Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan was reportedly valued at approximately ₹4,000 crore in the 2026 figures, compared with ₹1,630 crore in 2025.
His reported wealth has been associated not only with his decades-long acting career but also with investments, particularly in real estate.
Bachchan remains one of India’s most commercially successful and enduring screen personalities, with a career spanning several generations of Hindi cinema.
Salman Khan Enters the Hurun Rich List
Salman Khan was another major Bollywood name featured in this year’s wealth rankings.
The actor was reportedly estimated to have a fortune of ₹3,000 crore, marking his entry into the Hurun Rich List.
Khan’s earnings have historically come from a combination of film remuneration, television appearances, endorsements and business ventures.
Hrithik Roshan’s Reported ₹2,500 Crore Fortune
Hrithik Roshan followed Salman Khan in the reported ranking, with an estimated wealth of ₹2,500 crore.
Apart from his long-running career in Hindi cinema, Roshan has also developed business interests outside acting, including his fitness-focused brand.
His wealth profile illustrates how successful Bollywood performers can build substantial fortunes through a combination of entertainment income and entrepreneurship.
Juhi Chawla and Karan Johar Missing From This Year’s List
Interestingly, Juhi Chawla and Karan Johar, who appeared in the previous year’s report, were reportedly not included in the 2026 Hurun India Rich List figures cited in the report.
Changes in rankings can occur because of fluctuations in asset valuations, business holdings, market conditions and the methodology used to calculate wealth.
Why Bollywood Wealth Goes Beyond Film Fees
The latest figures highlight a broader trend in the entertainment industry: the wealthiest personalities are not necessarily those who command the highest acting fees.
Ownership stakes, intellectual property, production companies, music catalogues, real estate, consumer brands and other investments can have a much larger impact on long-term wealth.
Bhushan Kumar’s reported ₹36,300 crore family fortune is a particularly notable example of this distinction. His financial standing is closely connected to the scale of the T-Series business rather than simply earnings from appearing in films.
At the same time, celebrity wealth estimates should be treated as reported valuations rather than independently audited personal bank balances. Different publications and wealth-ranking organisations can arrive at different figures depending on the assets and methodology they use.
