The Indian shooting contingent had entered Day 5 with considerable attention on its women’s air pistol stars, including double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker and fellow shooter Esha Singh.

However, it was India’s skeet shooters who delivered the first shooting medals of the day at the Aichi Prefectural Shooting Range.

The Indian trio endured three days of qualifying competition before securing a place on the podium.

The result also marked a significant achievement for Indian shooting, with the country claiming its first Asian Games medal in the women’s team skeet event.

The two skeet medals came after India’s pistol shooters were unable to convert their opportunities into medals in the team and individual competitions.

The spotlight had been on Manu Bhaker and Esha Singh, but the skeet specialists instead emerged as India’s early medal winners in shooting on Day 5.

For the Indian shooting contingent, the two bronze medals provided an important boost and added to the country’s medal tally at the Asian Games.
