Aroob Khan on Ravi Kishan Reviving ‘Gucci’: “It Was a Shocker to Me”

Aroob Khan’s 2020 song ‘Gucci’ is enjoying an unexpected second wave of popularity after reels featuring actor and politician Ravi Kishan helped bring the track back into social media conversations.

The renewed attention has surprised Aroob herself. In a recent interaction with Hindustan Times, the singer said she initially noticed random videos appearing on her social media feed before realising just how widely the trend had spread.

“It was so unexpected. At first when it started, random videos started popping up on my Explore, and I was like, ‘Okay, okay.’ And then suddenly it was everywhere. It was like a shocker to me,” Aroob said.

The singer revealed that the trend quickly reached her personal circle as well. Friends, family members and even her brother began sharing different versions of the Ravi Kishan reels with her.

“My friend groups, my family, Mama, even my brother—everyone started sending me these reels,” she said, adding that she found the situation both funny and exciting.

For Aroob, the most rewarding part has been watching a song released several years ago find a completely new audience.

She believes the resurgence demonstrates how music can return to public attention long after its original release. A song may have an initial run, disappear from the mainstream conversation and then suddenly connect with a new generation through short-form video platforms.

Aroob wants to collaborate with Ravi Kishan

The unexpected connection between Ravi Kishan and Gucci has also sparked another possibility.

Aroob said she has already asked her team to explore the idea of collaborating with the actor.

“I literally told my team to connect with him because obviously he is the OG and he has set the trend. I would love to do that if I get a chance,” she said.

For the singer, such a collaboration would be a natural extension of the current social-media moment rather than simply another promotional opportunity.

Singer has bigger Bollywood ambitions

While Gucci continues to enjoy renewed attention, Aroob is focusing on her independent music career and looking towards bigger opportunities in the Hindi film industry.

The singer has expressed a desire to make her Bollywood playback debut in a Salman Khan film. She also hopes to collaborate with singer Sunidhi Chauhan, whom she has described as an inspiration.

Aroob said her ideal collaboration would combine both ambitions — working with Sunidhi Chauhan on a Salman Khan movie.

“I wish I could do it for Salman Khan. I just hope that in future I get to collaborate with Sunidhi Chauhan. She has been my inspiration,” she said.

The latest Gucci trend has therefore given Aroob Khan more than a viral moment. It has introduced the song to a fresh social-media audience while opening up the possibility of new collaborations as she continues to build her career in independent and film music.
