Actor Anupria Goenka made a memorable debut at the Cannes Film Festival 2026 with a striking fashion statement centred around the theme “My Body, My Choice.” The actress attended the prestigious international event for the screening of her film Bombay Stories at the Marche du Film section.

Speaking about the concept, Anupria shared that she wanted her Cannes debut to represent something meaningful beyond fashion.

“Since Cannes is such a huge global platform, I wanted my appearance to stand for something that truly matters to me — that every woman deserves complete agency over her body and her choices,” she said.

The actress explained that every detail of the look carried symbolic meaning. The white colour palette represented the idea of purity and unrealistic standards often imposed on women, while the red accents symbolised judgement, stigma and societal scrutiny.

Adding another thoughtful layer to the outfit, the jewellery incorporated vintage Indian rupee coins.

“We used old rupee coins in the jewellery to reflect how women are often assigned value or judged according to societal expectations,” Anupria explained.

Fashion observers praised the concept-driven styling for combining traditional craftsmanship with a modern social narrative on an international platform.

‘Bombay Stories’ Brings Manto’s World To Cannes

Anupria Goenka attended Cannes 2026 as part of the team behind Bombay Stories, which was showcased at the Marche du Film segment of the festival. The film draws inspiration from Manto’s Hatak, a story widely regarded for its layered exploration of dignity, identity and social hypocrisy.
