Ahead of the release of ‘Mask’, starring Kavin and Andrea Jeremiah, the actress shared her thoughts on Malayalam and Tamil cinema, praising the depth of characters in the former.
Speaking at the film’s press meet, Andrea Jeremiah said, “The quality of characters written in Malayalam is extraordinary. If I knew the language fluently, I would have gone there, acted, and settled there.” She explained that the respect given to artists, the humanity reflected in scripts, and the culture that values acting skills were major factors behind her admiration for Malayalam cinema.

The actress, who also produced ‘Mask’, hinted at taking charge of the delayed release of ‘Pisasu 2’ if her current film performs well at the box office. She stressed the importance of redefining the term “character artist,” advocating for the more respectful label of “supporting artist.” She said, “That definition itself needs to be changed.”
Hollywood & Malayalam Actors Set an Example
Andrea highlighted how actors in Hollywood and Malayalam cinema embrace all kinds of roles—lead or supporting—based on story quality rather than screen time. “Even a film made on a budget of Rs. 4 crores can gross Rs. 100 crores just because of the content. This is only possible in Malayalam,” she added.
