‘I Had Given Up on Cricket’

“I did not even have that hope that I would get a chance to play when I started transitioning. I had given up on cricket as well, but now that hope has awakened again thanks to Cricket Australia and the pathway that they have provided,” she said.

Bangar also acknowledged that her potential return to the sport is likely to attract scrutiny and debate. However, she said her case should be assessed through the policy, scientific evidence and her individual circumstances rather than assumptions.

“I am sure there’s gonna be a lot of scrutiny and a lot of people who might not be for me,” she said. “But again, I am telling them just look at the science, look at my case, look at my merit.”
