Anagha Maya Ravi Opens Up on Working With Suriya in ‘Karuppu’: “His Eyes Say Everything”

Anagha Maya Ravi has shared her experience working in the upcoming film Karuppu, where she stars alongside Suriya, Indrans, and RJ Balaji. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about her emotionally demanding role and praised Suriya’s subtle and expressive performance style.

In Karuppu, Anagha plays Binu, a character caught in a distressing legal battle who repeatedly finds herself unheard by the system. The role required her to portray emotional decline, shifting from hope to frustration and detachment as the story progresses.

Speaking about her character, Anagha explained that Binu remains strong in her choices despite repeated setbacks. She added that the courtroom sequences, though shot in a short span, left a lasting emotional impact due to their realistic portrayal of delayed justice and human suffering.

The actor also highlighted the importance of empathy in shaping her performance, noting that she approaches each character by understanding their emotional world. She described Karuppu as a film that allowed her to explore complex emotional layers within a socially relevant narrative.

Anagha credited RJ Balaji for recommending her for the role after watching her earlier performance in Kaathal: The Core. She also spoke about her continued interest in portraying strong female characters with meaningful story arcs.

One of the most memorable aspects of the shoot, she revealed, was working with veteran actor Indrans. She praised his childlike curiosity, deep observational skills, and wide-ranging knowledge, adding that his presence brought warmth and comfort to the set.

Reflecting on Suriya’s performance style, Anagha said she deeply admires the way he communicates emotion through his eyes. She described his acting as subtle yet powerful, noting that his expressions in films like Kaakha Kaakha, Vaaranam Aayiram, and 7 Aum Arivu remain particularly inspiring to her.
