Akshara Singh backs Jyoti Singh in alimony case against Pawan Singh, says ‘Even ₹100 crore may not be enough’

Bhojpuri actor Akshara Singh has publicly supported Jyoti Singh amid her ongoing legal dispute with Bhojpuri actor-politician Pawan Singh over alimony and maintenance.

Akshara, who was previously in a relationship with Pawan Singh, stated that Jyoti’s demand for financial support is justified and that divorced women should receive proper security without arbitrary limits.

Speaking to IANS, Akshara said, “Whenever a woman gets married and builds a life with someone, it becomes his responsibility. At the same time, it is her legal right to receive alimony, and she should get it fully.”

She added, “Whether she asks for ₹10 crore, ₹20 crore, or even ₹100 crore, it may still not be enough.”

Jyoti Singh seeks maintenance in court

Jyoti Singh has formally approached the court seeking alimony and financial maintenance as part of her matrimonial proceedings. In her petition, she has reportedly argued that she is entitled to maintenance under Indian law, citing a significant difference in income, social status and earning capacity between herself and her husband.

According to media reports on court submissions, Jyoti has stated that she does not have an independent source of income sufficient to maintain a lifestyle comparable to that of Pawan Singh. She has also alleged emotional distress, marital discord and abandonment, claiming the breakdown of the marriage was not her fault.

On these grounds, she has requested both interim and permanent alimony to cover living expenses, legal costs and long-term financial stability.

Matter remains under judicial consideration

Pawan Singh has contested the allegations and filed his response before the court. The case has undergone multiple hearings, with the court examining financial disclosures and legal submissions from both sides.

As the matter remains sub judice, no final order regarding alimony has been issued so far. The court’s decision will depend on its assessment of financial records, liabilities and the evidence presented during proceedings.
