Aishwarya Lekshmi has no plans to return to an active social media presence after stepping away from posting in 2025. The Malayalam actor says the decision has helped her experience everyday moments without constantly thinking about how they might appear online, while also giving her greater privacy and distance from hurtful comments.
At a time when social media has become an important part of an actor’s professional life, Aishwarya Lekshmi has chosen a different path.
The actor stepped away from actively posting on social media in 2025. A year later, she says she has not felt compelled to change her decision. Instead, she describes life away from the constant pressure to post, engage and maintain an online persona as more peaceful and rewarding.
Speaking to Sudhir Srinivasan, Aishwarya explained how leaving social media changed the way she experiences ordinary moments.

According to Aishwarya, one of the biggest changes has been her ability to experience moments without immediately thinking about how they could be presented online.
She recalled a time when even a holiday could involve thinking about what outfit to wear for photographs or which image might work best for Instagram. Similarly, seeing a beautiful sunset could trigger the instinct to take photographs before simply sitting back and enjoying the scene.
Since stepping away from posting, she says that mindset has changed.
Aishwarya explained that she can now pack for a vacation based on what she actually needs rather than considering what might appear on social media. She still has an Instagram account and consumes content on the platform, but she has chosen not to contribute actively to what she described as the platform’s existing “chaos.”
Why Aishwarya Lekshmi Stopped Posting
For Aishwarya, the decision was not simply about reducing screen time. She said she no longer wanted to feel as though she was performing for social media.

Once audiences develop a perception based on someone’s posts, she believes the person can begin feeling pressure to continue behaving in a way that matches that perception.
She wanted to move away from that cycle.
Aishwarya said her intention was to stop “performing” for social media and instead be herself without worrying about whether that version of her would fit the expectations created online.

Aishwarya also acknowledged that there had been professional pressure surrounding her social-media activity.
She said her managers have expressed concern and continue to encourage her to return to active posting. In the period before she quit, she felt pressure to post more frequently and communicate more online.
However, she clarified that much of the pressure was internal.
Aishwarya said she would tell herself that if she did not post regularly, her numbers and engagement would fall. She also admitted that she does not consider herself particularly good at navigating the “social media game.”
The constant focus on followers, engagement and visibility ultimately became something she no longer wanted to prioritise.
Hurtful Comments Made Her Feel Exposed
Another important reason behind Aishwarya’s decision was the impact of online comments.
The actor described herself as a private person and said that some of the comments she encountered were deeply upsetting.
She recalled feeling “very ruffled” by the negativity and eventually said she felt exposed to what she described as the viciousness and “evil” present on social media.
Her comments highlight the contrast between social media’s professional value and its personal cost. For actors, online platforms can provide direct access to audiences and help promote films, but they can also expose them to constant public commentary.
For Aishwarya, the balance eventually stopped working in her favour.
Choosing Real-Life Moments Over Instagram Moments
One of the most striking aspects of Aishwarya’s decision is the way she describes ordinary experiences after stepping away from active posting.
A vacation is simply a vacation. A sunset can be enjoyed without first becoming a photograph. A personal moment does not automatically need to become public content.
That shift has allowed her to separate experiencing something from documenting it.
She continues to use Instagram as a consumer, but her decision not to post means she no longer feels responsible for maintaining a carefully constructed public persona on the platform.
Aishwarya Lekshmi Has No Immediate Plans for a Social Media Comeback
Despite the importance social media can have for contemporary actors, Aishwarya has indicated that she does not currently see a reason to return to active posting.
Her experience has instead reinforced the value she places on privacy and living away from the expectations of an online audience.
The decision does not mean she has completely disappeared from public life. Her work in cinema continues to keep her connected with audiences, while she has simply chosen to draw a clearer boundary around her personal life.
Aishwarya was most recently seen in Aasha, directed by debutant filmmaker Safar Sanal and featuring Urvashi and Joju George in leading roles.
For now, however, the actor appears comfortable keeping much of her life away from Instagram—and, based on her latest comments, she has little reason to change that.
