Adah Sharma on Returning to Horror: “It Made Me Who I Am” | Exclusive

Adah Sharma, who made her acting debut with the 2008 horror film 1920, says the genre continues to hold a special place in her career. In an exclusive interaction, the actor opened up about revisiting horror projects and the possibility of returning to the franchise that introduced her to audiences.

When asked about coming back to the 1920 universe years after her debut, Adah responded cautiously, saying she prefers not to speak about projects until there is an official trailer release.

“I feel it’s a little inauspicious to talk about a project until there’s a trailer. Nowadays, you can announce something, but until it’s actually out, I don’t want to build expectations or say too much,” she shared.

However, she did acknowledge how significant horror has been in shaping her journey.

“Horror is very special to me because that’s where I debuted. It was the first time audiences saw me. Back then, many people advised me not to begin my career with a horror film since I wasn’t a known face or a popular model. But the audience was incredibly supportive. They understood the character and gave me so much love for 1920. Even today, I receive messages about it on social media,” she said.

Two Horror Films in 2026

Adah revealed that she is currently working on two horror projects slated for 2026. While she refrained from sharing details about release timelines, she confirmed she is actively shooting for one of them.

“I feel like I owe the audience a horror film. I’m doing two horror movies in 2026. The one I’m shooting right now is very different from 1920. I think people are really going to like it,” she said.

The actor also teased a dramatic transformation for the upcoming project, hinting at an elaborate look unlike anything she has done before.

“It takes me two to two-and-a-half hours for hair and makeup, which is very unusual for me because I’m usually ready in 15 minutes. The look is extremely detailed. Removing it takes another two hours. There are two distinct looks in the film, and one of them is particularly intense,” she revealed.

For Adah, choosing roles that push boundaries remains a priority.

“I wait to do films where I can present something audiences haven’t seen before,” she added.

Having launched her career in horror and now returning to the genre with renewed energy, Adah Sharma appears set to explore darker narratives once again — this time with a transformed screen presence.
