Aahana Kumra’s Mumbai home is a vibrant reflection of her personality, travels and childhood memories. Featured in Architectural Digest, the actor’s apartment brings together her Lucknowi roots, English-inspired interiors, Kashmir keepsakes and memories from London and Delhi.

Designed by Shireen Mahna, the home uses colour, art and personal memorabilia to create a space that feels lived-in rather than overly polished. From a pink entrance and family gallery wall to an Audrey Hepburn artwork and a princess-inspired walk-in wardrobe, almost every corner carries a story.

Aahana Kumra’s Pink Mumbai Home Was Designed to Feel Personal

The apartment immediately stands apart from the otherwise uniform building entrance, with a pink front door reflecting Aahana’s longstanding love for the colour.

“I absolutely love pink. It’s my all-time favourite colour—that’s why it’s right at the front,” Aahana told Architectural Digest.

The actor described the apartment as a collection of influences accumulated over around two decades. Her Lucknow upbringing sits alongside memories and objects connected to places such as Kashmir, London and Delhi.

In her words, the home is essentially “a collection of all my favourite places.”

Aahana Wanted a Home, Not a Hotel

Having spent a significant part of her professional life travelling and living out of suitcases, Aahana wanted her Mumbai apartment to feel distinctly personal.

She told designer Shireen Mahna that she did not want a space that looked overly formal or impersonal.

“I’ve seen so many houses that look less-home, more-hotel. I was clear I didn’t want that,” she recalled.

Mahna, who runs her own design firm, worked with softer tones, colour accents and personal details to give the apartment its character. Rather than following a single minimalist aesthetic, the interiors were designed to reflect the person living in them.

The result is a home where colour and individuality take precedence over a showroom-like finish.

Indian Craft Meets London Memories

The apartment combines Indian design elements with objects collected during Aahana’s travels.

Among the details are Kashmiri keepsakes, a Sarita Handa accent chair and wooden artworks sourced from street-side finds. These pieces sit alongside walls featuring sage and daisy tones, creating a layered visual identity throughout the home.

One of the most distinctive pieces is an Audrey Hepburn painting that Aahana bought from London’s Camden Market.

“I’m a huge fan, and the moment I saw it, I knew I had to have it,” she said, describing the artwork as a centrepiece of the room.

A Family Gallery Wall Becomes a Favourite Corner

The dining area features one of Aahana’s most personal additions: a monochrome gallery wall filled with family photographs.

The actor had long imagined having a visual montage of her family, and Mahna turned that idea into a dedicated display featuring photographs of her parents, siblings, nephew, cat and extended family.

Aahana considers the space one of her favourite areas in the apartment.

Interestingly, however, her balcony is where she spends much of her time when entertaining. The outdoor space doubles as a place where she can read scripts, relax with a drink and take in the sounds of Mumbai.

A ‘Wall of Work’ Celebrates Aahana’s Acting Journey

The personal touches extend into Aahana’s professional life as well.

A dedicated “Wall of Work” features stills from several of her acting projects, including Lipstick Under My Burkha, The Accidental Prime Minister, Call My Agent: Bollywood and Khuda Haafiz.

The display provides a visual record of her career while fitting naturally into a home that is filled with memories and milestones.

Aahana also spoke about the freedom of designing a home entirely around her own preferences. Her love for pink, in particular, allowed her to embrace a colour palette that she felt might be harder to pursue in a shared household.

A Bedroom Inspired by Her Parents’ Home

The actor’s connection with her childhood is also reflected in the bedroom, which features rainforest-themed wallpaper inspired by the atmosphere of her parents’ house.

Rather than treating the apartment as a completely separate space from her past, Aahana has incorporated familiar visual references into the interiors.

This approach gives the home a sense of continuity, with childhood memories, travel souvenirs and career milestones existing alongside one another.

Inside Aahana Kumra’s Princess-Inspired Walk-In Wardrobe

One of the most dramatic spaces in the apartment is the walk-in wardrobe, which was previously the home’s third bedroom.

The room has been transformed into a fashion-focused space featuring a princess-style chandelier, oversized mirror and plush pink vanity chair.

The space has become a favourite among Aahana’s friends, who have apparently been drawn to its playful design regardless of gender. Beyond its visual appeal, the wardrobe also serves a practical purpose by bringing some organisation to her collection of clothes and accessories.

Aahana Kumra continues to remain active across film, television and streaming projects. She was seen as Sanjana in Salaam Venky and played Amal in Call My Agent: Bollywood.
