Tamil Version Drives the Opening

The Tamil version emerged as the biggest contributor to the film’s domestic opening.

According to the available estimates, the Tamil-language release collected approximately ₹2.60 crore on Day 1 and registered an overall theatre occupancy of 45.57%.

The morning shows recorded 32.62% occupancy, followed by 43% in the afternoon. Evening shows registered 35.38%, while the strongest response came during the night screenings, which reached an estimated 67.38% occupancy.

The numbers indicate that the film gained momentum as the opening day progressed, particularly during the night shows.

Telugu and Hindi Versions Add to the Total

The Telugu version contributed an estimated ₹1.25 crore to the film’s India net collection and recorded an overall occupancy of 30.80%.

The Hindi release added approximately ₹25 lakh, with an estimated overall occupancy of 9%.

The Telugu EPIQ version, meanwhile, recorded a reported overall occupancy of around 71%.

The regional performance gives DC a stronger foundation in the South Indian theatrical market, with Tamil Nadu remaining the primary contributor.

Tamil Nadu Leads Regional Box Office

Tamil Nadu accounted for approximately ₹2 crore of the film’s opening-day gross, according to the supplied regional estimates.

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together contributed around ₹1.40 crore, while Karnataka added approximately ₹60 lakh.

Kerala contributed a further ₹40 lakh, with the remaining Indian territories accounting for around ₹30 lakh.

DC Day 1 Estimated Regional Gross

  • Tamil Nadu: ₹2 crore
  • Andhra Pradesh & Telangana: ₹1.40 crore
  • Karnataka: ₹60 lakh
  • Kerala: ₹40 lakh
  • Rest of India: ₹30 lakh

These figures should be treated as early estimates and may be revised as final trade figures become available.

Early Audience Response Highlights Action and Performances

The film has also begun generating reactions from early viewers on X, with several posts praising its action sequences, performances and direction.

One viewer highlighted Arun Matheswaran’s filmmaking and suggested that the director had delivered a film that could strengthen his position among contemporary filmmakers.

Another early reaction praised the film’s screenplay and music while singling out Lokesh Kanagaraj’s performance and Anirudh Ravichander’s contribution to the overall experience.

At the same time, audience reactions have not been universally positive.

Some viewers described DC as an engaging action drama but pointed to weaknesses in the writing. Comments cited a familiar storyline, slower portions and repetition in the second half, while also praising several individual sequences and the climax.

The mixed early response suggests that the film’s theatrical performance could depend on how audiences respond over the first weekend, particularly beyond its core Tamil-speaking market.

Lokesh Kanagaraj Takes on a Different Role

One of the biggest attractions surrounding DC is Lokesh Kanagaraj’s presence as a lead actor.

Best known for his work as a filmmaker, Kanagaraj has built a major reputation through his direction and the creation of action-driven cinematic worlds. His move into a prominent acting role has therefore generated considerable curiosity among moviegoers.

Wamiqa Gabbi and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy also feature in important roles, adding to the film’s ensemble.

Arun Matheswaran directs DC, while Anirudh Ravichander is credited with the film’s music.

What’s Next for DC at the Box Office?

With an estimated ₹4.10 crore net opening in India and ₹5.70 crore worldwide, DC now enters its crucial weekend phase.

The next few days will determine whether the film can convert its opening-day audience interest into sustained theatrical momentum. Stronger occupancy during the weekend, particularly in Tamil Nadu and other southern markets, could provide an important boost to its overall collection.

For now, the film has made a measured start, while the contrasting audience reactions have added another point of interest around its theatrical journey.

SheZindagi Entertainment Desk will continue to track DC’s box-office performance and update the collection figures as verified or reliable trade estimates become available.
