Netflix has unveiled its highly anticipated limited horror series Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, the first post-Stranger Things project from Upside Down Pictures. Created by Haley Z. Following the dramatic conclusion of Stranger Things, Matt and Ross Duffer are taking a mentorship role in their new slate of shows. “We’re finding talent and creatives that we deeply respect and helping them get the show off the ground,” Matt told Entertainment Weekly. “We teach them what we’ve learned so hopefully they don’t make the same mistakes. That’s sort of our role as far as that’s concerned.”
Haley Z. Boston, a former production assistant turned showrunner, helms Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen as her first major solo project. Boston draws inspiration from horror classics such as Carrie and Rosemary’s Baby, exploring a timeless fear: committing to the wrong partner. “It just felt so natural to me that you would explore the fear of commitment and the fear of marrying the wrong person through a horror lens,” Boston explains.
