Sobhita Dhulipala has addressed the social-media criticism faced by Katrina Kaif following the actor’s recent public appearance after becoming a mother. Speaking at an NDTV event, Sobhita said women are often expected to meet multiple, sometimes conflicting, expectations and noted that everyone responds to public criticism differently.
Katrina was recently seen with her husband Vicky Kaushal at Ganpati celebrations at the Ambani residence. The appearance drew attention online, but some social-media users focused on changes in her body following childbirth.
The criticism prompted support from several Bollywood personalities, including Salman Khan and Parineeti Chopra. Sobhita has now also spoken about the broader issue of public scrutiny directed at women.
Sobhita Dhulipala Says There Is No ‘Generic Rule’ for Women
At the NDTV event, Sobhita was asked about the criticism surrounding Katrina and postpartum weight.

“Women are expected to be strong, women are expected to be sensitive, women are expected to be many things. And different women handle things differently, so there is no generic rule,” Sobhita said.
Her response focused less on telling women how they should react and more on recognising that public criticism can affect people differently.
‘We Are All Human’, Says Sobhita
Sobhita also acknowledged that being a public figure does not make someone immune to criticism.
“Like when you say that public criticism is disappointing, I am sure it can be for many people; we are all human. We just deal with it in a way that makes sense for us,” she said.

Rather than prescribing a particular response to online criticism, Sobhita emphasised individual ways of dealing with it.
Parineeti Chopra Also Defended Katrina Kaif
Before Sobhita’s comments, Parineeti Chopra had spoken in support of Katrina after the latter faced online remarks about her postpartum appearance.

Add Hunterfly on GoogleParineeti questioned why a woman’s body after childbirth should become a subject of public discussion.
“I just don’t get it. If a woman has produced a baby and there’s evidence of that on her body, why is that negative? Isn’t that beautiful evidence?” Parineeti said.
She also pointed out that pregnancy involves physical changes and questioned why those changes are treated negatively.
Her comments challenged the idea that women should be expected to immediately return to their pre-pregnancy appearance.
Salman Khan Also Speaks in Katrina’s Support
Salman Khan also addressed the criticism while speaking about Katrina on Bigg Boss 20.
He questioned why people were commenting on the appearance of a woman who had recently gone through pregnancy.
“Everyone puts on weight after pregnancy. When she resumes filming, she will get back in shape. She wants to spend time with her family,” Salman said.
His comments placed the focus on Katrina’s decision to spend time with her family rather than on social-media expectations surrounding her appearance.
Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal Became Parents in 2025
Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal welcomed their first child, son Vihaan, in November 2025.
Since becoming parents, the couple has generally maintained a relatively private approach to their family life.
Katrina’s appearance at the Ambani residence for Ganpati celebrations was among her public appearances after becoming a mother.
She attended the celebration with Vicky, but discussion on social media subsequently shifted towards her appearance and body.
The episode has once again raised questions about the pressure placed on actresses and other public figures to meet appearance-related expectations after childbirth.
Sobhita Says Women Handle Public Criticism Differently
Sobhita’s comments offer a more individual perspective on the issue. Rather than suggesting that every woman should respond to online criticism in the same way, she acknowledged that people have different ways of processing public attention.
Her statement also underlines a basic distinction between being a public figure and being unaffected by personal criticism.
Katrina’s experience, and the responses from Sobhita, Parineeti and Salman, have added to an ongoing discussion about the way women’s bodies are discussed publicly after pregnancy.
For Sobhita, there is no single formula for dealing with that pressure.
“We are all human,” she said, stressing that people ultimately cope with public criticism in whatever way works for them.
