Shakira has reunited with Indian couturier Gaurav Gupta for another dramatic stage look, pairing a sculpted brass she-wolf breastplate with a handwoven Banarasi silk brocade skirt for her Madrid tour residency.

Indian couture continues to find a place on some of the world’s biggest stages, and Shakira’s latest concert look is another striking example.

The global pop star has once again turned to Indian designer Gaurav Gupta, wearing a custom ensemble during the European residency of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour in Madrid.

Styled by Nicolas Bru, the look combines sculptural metalwork with traditional Indian textile craftsmanship. At its centre is a dramatic brass breastplate shaped around a she-wolf motif, paired with a handwoven Banarasi silk brocade skirt.

According to the supplied details, the ensemble required more than 500 hours of work and involved a team of more than 10 artisans.

Shakira’s she-wolf breastplate takes centre stage

The brass breastplate is the defining element of the outfit.

Rather than functioning simply as jewellery or embellishment, the sculpted piece resembles a form of armour. A she-wolf is incorporated directly into the metalwork, creating a strong visual connection between the animal motif and Shakira’s performance persona.

The gown’s cascading blue layers were designed to move with Shakira’s performance, while the sculpted metallic element gave the outfit a futuristic, almost armour-inspired character.

The Madrid ensemble appears to revisit that concept in a new form. The earlier blue wolf has been reinterpreted through brass, while the flowing gown has given way to a Banarasi silk brocade skirt.

The she-wolf becomes a recurring fashion signature

The evolution from the blue wolf gown to the new brass she-wolf breastplate gives the two looks a sense of continuity.

Rather than simply repeating an earlier design, Gupta has translated the same central motif into a different material and silhouette.
