Actress Ruma Sharma is preparing for the release of her upcoming film Jeena Dil Se, a project that blends friendship, romance, humour, and emotional twists. Scheduled to release on May 29, the film marks another important step in the actress’s growing career across television, films, digital platforms, and reality shows.
Known for projects like Temptation Island India and the web series Honey Trap, Ruma recently reflected on her personal and professional journey while speaking to IndyaStory.
‘Jeena Dil Se’ Entered Her Life Unexpectedly
According to Ruma, joining Jeena Dil Se was never part of a calculated career plan. The opportunity arrived suddenly through a phone call, without any formal audition or look test.
“There was no audition, no look test and absolutely no indication that I would become part of the film. It all happened very suddenly, and at that point I had no idea how meaningful this project would become for me,” she shared.

“Now it feels like destiny had different plans,” she added.
Ruma Sharma Replaced Another Actor Before Filming
The actress also revealed that she joined the project at a late stage after another actor exited shortly before production began. However, instead of focusing on the replacement aspect, she viewed it as an opportunity to grow.
“Replacements are a very normal part of the film industry. Sometimes they happen because of scheduling changes, creative decisions or production timelines,” Ruma explained.
“For me, the focus was always on the opportunity and the experience. I was grateful to be trusted with the role and wanted to give my best to the character,” she said.

Film Took Nearly Two Years to Reach Release Stage
Jeena Dil Se has taken almost two years to complete before finally arriving in theatres. Speaking about the delay, Ruma said filmmaking involves multiple stages beyond shooting alone.
“A film coming together involves scripting, schedules, production planning, post-production, music and release strategy,” she said.

“Sometimes good things simply take time,” she added.
Ruma Sharma Credits Her Mother for Her Journey
Away from the cameras, Ruma says the biggest inspiration behind her acting career is her mother, who sacrificed her own dreams to support her daughter.
“Honestly, all the credit goes to my mother. She always dreamed of seeing herself on the big screen but never had the support system to pursue it,” Ruma shared.
The actress revealed that her mother left her job so they could move from Delhi to Mumbai together and begin a new life.
“It has been almost ten years in Mumbai now, and those years have been filled with struggle, learning and rebuilding life from zero,” she said.
Ruma also trained at the National School of Drama (NSD), which she says helped shape her understanding of acting and performance.
“Whatever I am today and whatever I have achieved so far is entirely because of my mother’s support, belief and sacrifices,” she concluded.
