Nazifa Tushi Breaks Silence on Shakib Khan and Siam Ahmed Film Reports

Nazifa Tushi has built her acting career around selective choices rather than frequent appearances. A decade into her journey, the actress still has a relatively small filmography, with her most recent theatrical release, Hawa, arriving three years ago after her earlier success with Ice Cream.

Now, fresh reports have linked Tushi to two highly anticipated Bangladeshi films—one opposite Shakib Khan and another alongside Siam Ahmed. However, the actress has made it clear that neither project has been finalised from her side.

Nazifa Tushi Says No New Film Has Been Finalised

Tushi has recently been mentioned in connection with Abu Hayat Mahmud’s Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka, which stars Shakib Khan, as well as Raihan Rafi’s Andhar, featuring Siam Ahmed.

Speaking to The Times of Bangladesh on Sunday, Tushi confirmed that discussions have taken place but stopped short of confirming either casting decision.

“I have been approached for the films, but I have not taken any decision yet. I don’t want to reveal too much until everything is finalised. It’s best to ask the directors of these films.”

Her comments effectively put a pause on speculation surrounding her next big-screen appearances. For now, fans will have to wait for official announcements from the respective filmmakers before considering either project confirmed.

Tushi Already Has Several Projects in the Pipeline

Although the actress remains guarded about her possible collaborations with Shakib Khan and Siam Ahmed, she is not away from screen work.

Tushi has already completed Mejbaur Rahman Sumon’s Roid. The film received a government grant of Tk 60 lakh during the 2020–21 financial year. Jaya Ahsan was initially associated with the production, but after she returned the grant, Bengal Creations took over as producer.

A substantial portion of Roid was filmed in Srimangal, with Mostafizur Noor Imran appearing opposite Tushi.

The actress has also nearly completed Shokhi Rongomala, directed by N Rashed Chowdhury. The period drama places Tushi in the title role of Rongomala, a woman from a zamindar family in 18th-century Noakhali.

Why ‘Shokhi Rongomala’ Is Special to Tushi

Tushi has previously spoken about the personal connection she feels with Shokhi Rongomala. The story is set roughly two centuries in the past and revolves around a zamindar family from Noakhali, the region where Tushi herself has roots.

Discussing the character previously, she described the opportunity as both emotionally meaningful and personally significant.

“Working on a story set almost 200 years ago stirred something inside me. I felt I must play this character.”

She also highlighted the connection between the film’s setting and her own background, saying that being from Noakhali created a “spiritual connection” with the story.

For Tushi, the role represents more than another acting assignment. She has described the experience as a source of pride and said she has been enjoying the opportunity to portray such a layered character.

Actress Also Working With ‘Rehana Mariam Noor’ Director

Beyond cinema, Tushi is also working on a web series directed by Abdullah Mohammad Saad, the filmmaker behind the acclaimed film Rehana Mariam Noor.

The project adds another dimension to an acting career that has increasingly extended beyond conventional theatrical releases. With the rise of streaming platforms in Bangladesh, Tushi appears to be maintaining her selective approach while exploring different formats.

Details about the series, including its storyline and release plans, have not been widely disclosed.

From Lux Channel i Superstar to ‘Hawa’

Tushi first gained widespread attention in 2014 when she became the first runner-up of the Lux Channel i Superstar competition. She subsequently made her film debut in Redwan Rony’s Ice Cream, appearing alongside Shariful Raj and Kumar Uday.

She later expanded her screen presence through projects such as the web film Networker Baire and the web series Syndicate. She has also hosted the television programme Rangin Pata on NTV.

Her biggest recent theatrical breakthrough came with Mejbaur Rahman Sumon’s Hawa, which marked her return to the big screen after a substantial gap following Ice Cream. The film became a major talking point in Bangladeshi cinema and further established Tushi as an actress known for choosing distinctive projects.

Three years after Hawa, however, audiences are still waiting for her next theatrical release.

What Comes Next for Nazifa Tushi?

For now, Tushi’s next confirmed screen appearances remain Roid, Shokhi Rongomala and her upcoming web series with Abdullah Mohammad Saad.

Her reported links to Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka and Andhar remain at the discussion stage based on her own comments. Until the directors or production teams make formal announcements, it would be premature to describe Tushi as confirmed opposite either Shakib Khan or Siam Ahmed.
