Mumbai: Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent 2 has become the subject of a fresh complaint after an episode featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, casting director Mukesh Chhabra, Bhuvan Bam and comedian Kaustubh Agarwal appeared on Netflix.

A complaint has reportedly been submitted against Mukesh Chhabra and Netflix India over an alleged sexually suggestive remark attributed to Chhabra during the episode. The complaint was filed by Anurag Shrivastav after he watched the programme.

Importantly, the allegation has not been independently verified, and the complaint itself calls for the original recording, voice identification, context and timestamp to be examined before any conclusion is reached.

What does the complaint against Mukesh Chhabra say?

According to an IANS report cited in coverage of the matter, Shrivastav said he watched the episode on Netflix while staying at a hotel in Mumbai on the evening of September 22.

The complainant alleged that a remark containing vulgar language was made during the programme and attributed it to Mukesh Chhabra. He described the alleged statement as inappropriate and sexually suggestive.

However, the complaint also reportedly asks authorities to establish whether the statement was actually made as alleged. It specifically raises the need to verify the identity of the speaker, the complete context of the conversation and the precise timestamp from an original, unedited recording.

That distinction is significant. At this stage, the complaint represents an allegation and a request for investigation rather than an established finding against Chhabra or Netflix India.

Complaint also questions Netflix India’s content review

The complaint reportedly raises questions about how the episode was reviewed before becoming available to Netflix subscribers.

Shrivastav has sought scrutiny of Netflix India’s role in approving the programme for streaming and has also raised questions concerning Monika Shergill, Netflix India’s content leadership.

There has been no reported independent verification of the alleged remark in the material described in the complaint.

Neither Mukesh Chhabra nor Netflix India had, at the time of the cited report, publicly responded to the complaint.

Why India’s Got Latent has faced controversy before

The new complaint comes after India’s Got Latent previously attracted major controversy following an episode involving YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina and other panel members.

Allahbadia faced widespread criticism after making an explicit remark concerning parents and intimacy on the show. The controversy subsequently led to legal proceedings and FIRs involving multiple people associated with the episode.

The matter generated substantial public and regulatory attention and became one of the most discussed controversies involving an Indian online entertainment programme.

The current complaint involving India’s Got Latent 2 is a separate matter and should not be treated as evidence that the allegations in the latest complaint have been established.

Who appeared in the India’s Got Latent 2 episode?

The episode at the centre of the latest complaint featured several recognisable names from Indian entertainment and comedy, including:

  • Nawazuddin Siddiqui
  • Mukesh Chhabra
  • Bhuvan Bam
  • Kaustubh Agarwal
  • Host Samay Raina

The appearance of established film and digital personalities has helped the second season attract considerable attention beyond the show’s core comedy audience.

India’s Got Latent 2 moves to Netflix

India’s Got Latent began as a YouTube comedy and entertainment format hosted by Samay Raina. Following the controversy surrounding the first season, the programme returned for its second season with Netflix as its streaming platform.

The second season has featured a broad mix of celebrities, comedians, internet personalities and entertainers. Names associated with the season include Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Badshah, Deepak Kalal, Rakhi Sawant, Ashneer Grover, Varun Dhawan, Medha Shankr, Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Kiku Sharda, Chandan Prabhakar, Archana Puran Singh, Orry and Sharon Verma, among others.

Its move to a major streaming platform has also brought greater attention to questions around content standards, editorial review and the boundaries of comedy and entertainment programming.

What happens next?

The immediate question is whether the complaint will result in a formal inquiry and whether the alleged statement can be authenticated from the original recording.

For now, there is no basis to treat the allegation as an established fact. Verification of the recording, the surrounding conversation and the identity of the speaker would be necessary before drawing conclusions about what was said or who was responsible.

Netflix India and Mukesh Chhabra’s response, if issued, could provide additional context. Any subsequent statement from the parties or findings by the relevant authorities would be important in assessing the complaint.
