Hunterfly, a digital lifestyle platform operating under the IndyaStory Media Network, has publicly rejected recent DMCA and trademark infringement allegations filed by another digital media company, calling the complaint “baseless,” “anti-competitive,” and legally unsustainable.

According to Hunterfly, the complaint alleged “deceptive similarity” involving the platform’s branding, website structure and use of dot iconography. The company, however, maintains that its branding architecture, corporate identity and publishing framework are independently developed and clearly distinguishable.

Hunterfly Says Its Design Language Is Part of a Unified Network Ecosystem

Hunterfly stated that its platform was developed using the proprietary design infrastructure of the broader IndyaStory Media Network.

The company noted that several network-owned properties — including IndyaStory.com and Bext.in — share common visual systems such as structured layouts, advertisement placements and color-coded dot iconography.

According to Hunterfly, these elements represent a consistent corporate design language rather than imitation of any external platform.

The company argued that global web layouts, punctuation-based iconography and standard publishing frameworks are widely used throughout the digital publishing industry and cannot reasonably be monopolised.

Hunterfly Highlights Branding and Typography Differences

As part of its response, Hunterfly pointed to visual distinctions between its branding and that of the complainant.

According to the company:

  • The competing platform reportedly uses a fashion-inspired serif typeface with stylised lowercase formatting.
  • Hunterfly uses a more geometric, corporate-style serif structure with a prominent capital “H” in its branding.
  • The complainant’s branding reportedly includes a smaller red dot element, while Hunterfly uses a larger green dot consistent with the broader IndyaStory network palette.

Hunterfly stated that these differences establish a separate visual identity and eliminate any realistic possibility of public confusion.

Google Search Indexing Cited as Key Evidence

Hunterfly also cited Google Search indexing as what it described as one of the strongest indicators of independent digital identity.

According to the platform, Google indexes both websites separately using distinct favicons, metadata and descriptive language.

The company stated that:

  • The competing platform appears with a red-accented favicon and lowercase monogram styling.
  • Hunterfly appears with a black favicon featuring white serif lettering and separate metadata descriptions.

Hunterfly further argued that Google’s search algorithms identify the two websites as entirely different entities.

“If global search indexing systems can independently differentiate both brands without confusion, the claim of deceptive similarity becomes difficult to sustain,” the company said in its statement.

Operational Pages and Standard Layouts Also Mentioned

The company additionally addressed claims involving standard corporate pages such as “Contact Us” sections.

Hunterfly argued that general operational structures, email routing systems and informational layouts are universal publishing conventions used across websites globally.

According to the company, standard business communication formats cannot be treated as proprietary creative assets.

Legal Counter-Response Underway

Hunterfly confirmed that its in-house legal team has compiled branding comparisons, indexing screenshots and design documentation as part of a formal counter-response process involving hosting and infrastructure providers, including Cloudflare.

The platform stated that it remains confident about its legal position and independent status within the digital publishing ecosystem.

“We Are Here to Stay”

Despite the ongoing dispute, Hunterfly said it will continue publishing lifestyle, entertainment and women-focused content under the IndyaStory Media Network umbrella.

The company reiterated that no organisation can claim permanent ownership over a content demographic or general publishing aesthetics.

“Hunterfly was built to amplify independent voices and modern storytelling, and we will continue operating without intimidation,” the statement added.
