Boney Kapoor, Janhvi and Khushi Move Madras High Court Over Sridevi’s Chennai Property Dispute

Film producer Boney Kapoor, along with daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, has approached the Madras High Court in connection with an ongoing legal dispute involving a property owned by late actor Sridevi in Chennai.

The matter concerns a 4.7-acre land parcel located along the East Coast Road (ECR), which was reportedly acquired by Sridevi several years ago. The property has been under legal scrutiny since 2025, after claims emerged from certain individuals asserting ownership over the land.

According to case details, the Kapoor family moved the High Court after a lower court in Chengalpattu declined to dismiss a civil suit related to the disputed property. The family had argued that the claims made against them were without merit, but the lower court held that the issue required a full trial to determine rightful ownership.

The dispute involves allegations of fraudulent claims, with the Kapoor family stating that the opposing parties relied on questionable legal documentation. They have maintained that the land has long been in their possession and holds both financial and emotional significance, being associated with Sridevi’s legacy.

In recent proceedings, the High Court granted interim relief to the Kapoor family by staying further action in the lower court. Justice T.V. Thamilselvi has scheduled the matter for hearing on March 26, 2026, while directing that all proceedings in the district court remain paused until then.

The case originated after a woman, Chandrabanu, along with her two children, filed a suit claiming a share in the property. In response, the Kapoor family has contested these claims, raising legal objections related to the validity of relationships cited in support of the ownership claim.
