Ameesha Patel Takes Dig at Female Stars’ Entourages: ‘Bigger Than Their Day 1 Collection’

Ameesha Patel has sparked a conversation about celebrity entourages after questioning the practice of actors travelling with large teams during film shoots and promotions, particularly when producers are expected to cover the expenses.

The actor shared her views during an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on X, responding to a user who asked whether it was fair for stars to bring additional entourage members at a producer’s cost.

Ameesha Patel Questions Entourage Expenses

Ameesha appeared critical of the spending involved in maintaining large celebrity teams. In her response, she claimed that the entourage expenses of some female actors during film promotions can sometimes exceed the opening-day collection of their movies.

“Many female actresses are in denial of their stardom; their entourage during film promotions which comes at the cost of the producers are bigger then their day 1 collection hope they have the same entourage in their regular life minus a producer paying for it. (sic)” Ameesha wrote.

Her comment came in response to an X user who asked, “Mam what do you feel of the many stars who are carrying extra entourage at the producers cost for their shoots. Is it the correct thing to do?”

Ameesha did not identify any particular actress in her post. Her comments instead focused on what she described as the wider issue of producers bearing the costs associated with celebrity entourages.

The remarks have prompted discussion about the economics of film promotions and the additional expenses that can accompany a star’s professional commitments.

What Is a Celebrity Entourage?

In the film industry, an actor’s entourage can include professionals such as stylists, makeup artists, hairdressers, personal assistants, security personnel and other members of a support team.

While such teams can play an important role in managing an actor’s professional schedule and public appearances, the size and cost of entourages can vary considerably depending on the actor, project and requirements.

Ameesha’s comments specifically raised the question of who should bear those expenses when large teams accompany actors for promotional activities.

Ameesha Patel’s Bollywood Career

Ameesha Patel made her Hindi film debut with Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai in 2000, opposite Hrithik Roshan. The film became a major success and established her as a prominent new face in Bollywood.

She subsequently appeared in several popular films, including Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Humraaz, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Race 2.

One of the biggest later milestones in her career came with Gadar 2 in 2023. The film reunited Patel with Sunny Deol, with the two reprising their respective roles as Sakeena and Tara Singh from the 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.

The sequel became one of the major Hindi releases of 2023 and marked the return of the franchise more than two decades after the original.
