Aishwarya Raj Bhakuni Defends Aradhya’s Choices in O Humnava Tum Dena Saath Mera: ‘I Don’t See Her as a Villain’

Aishwarya Raj Bhakuni is embracing Aradhya’s selfish, impulsive and ambitious side in Studio LSD’s O Humnava Tum Dena Saath Mera, saying the character’s choices are driven more by emotion and insecurity than calculated villainy.

Aishwarya Raj Bhakuni is currently exploring a dramatically different television character as Aradhya in O Humnava Tum Dena Saath Mera. The actress, who previously played Mata Parvati in Shrimad Ramayan, has moved from a spiritual and dignified role to a character whose ambitions frequently push her into morally complicated situations.

With Aradhya now marrying Vivaan after making considerable efforts to secure their relationship, Aishwarya has opened up about what drives her character and why she does not consider Aradhya a conventional antagonist.

Aradhya’s marriage to Vivaan is about more than romance

According to Aishwarya, the wedding track gives viewers a deeper look at Aradhya’s personality. While Aradhya has always been clear about what she wants, the current storyline demonstrates the lengths she is prepared to go to achieve it.

The actress says she was particularly interested in the track because it brings another dimension to Aradhya.

“When I first heard about this track, I was honestly very excited because it takes Aradhya’s personality to another level.”

For Aradhya, Vivaan represents both emotional attraction and the secure future she wants for herself. Aishwarya explains that her character is drawn to Vivaan because he treats her well and makes her feel valued, while his wealth and lifestyle also influence her decision.

“Her desire for a wealthy and secure life is definitely a big part of why she wants to marry Vivaan,” Aishwarya says, adding that Aradhya also genuinely likes him and shares chemistry with him.

That combination, according to the actress, makes Aradhya’s feelings more complicated than simply describing them as either love or financial ambition.

Why Aishwarya does not consider Aradhya a villain

Aradhya’s actions have repeatedly been driven by her own interests, something Aishwarya openly acknowledges. However, the actress draws a distinction between selfishness and deliberate villainy.

“I completely agree that Aradhya is selfish. I don’t try to sugarcoat that aspect of her personality,” she says.

At the same time, Aishwarya describes her as emotionally impulsive rather than someone who carefully plans every move.

That distinction becomes particularly important as Vivaan begins pulling away from the marriage and Aradhya becomes increasingly worried about losing the future she has imagined. Her desperation eventually leads her to seek a major sacrifice from her sister Aparajita.

Aishwarya says she may personally question Aradhya’s choices, but understanding the character’s emotional state is essential to portraying her convincingly.

“As Aishwarya, I can question that decision. But as Aradhya, I have to understand that fear and desperation.”

Does Aradhya really love Vivaan?

Aishwarya believes Aradhya’s feelings for Vivaan are genuine, even though they are intertwined with her ambitions.

The actress says Aradhya is attracted to Vivaan, appreciates the way he treats her and enjoys the sense of importance he gives her. At the same time, the security associated with marrying him is clearly part of the equation.

“I wouldn’t call it fake love,” Aishwarya explains. Instead, she describes it as a relationship that does not fit the traditional idea of completely selfless or unconditional romance.

For Aradhya, love and ambition appear to coexist rather than operate independently.

Getting what she wants may be only the beginning

With the marriage finally taking place, Aradhya has achieved the future she was fighting for. But Aishwarya believes that reaching the goal could create an entirely new challenge for her character.

The actress says Aradhya has envisioned a life involving a wealthy and secure family, a partner she finds attractive and someone who makes her feel valued.

However, achieving that life does not necessarily guarantee happiness.

“There is a difference between getting what you want and being happy with what you get.”

According to Aishwarya, the next phase of Aradhya’s journey will therefore test whether she can maintain the relationship and adjust to the realities of married life.

Marriage will not instantly change Aradhya

Viewers should not expect Aradhya to undergo an overnight personality transformation simply because she is now married.

Aishwarya believes her character’s tendency to put herself first will remain an important part of the storyline. At the same time, she sees room for Aradhya to mature as she experiences the consequences of her decisions.

“I don’t think marriage is going to suddenly transform Aradhya into a completely different person,” she says.

The actress describes Aradhya as young and emotionally impulsive, suggesting that her development will come gradually through experience rather than through a sudden change in personality.

From Mata Parvati to Aradhya: Aishwarya’s biggest acting contrast

One of the most significant aspects of the role for Aishwarya has been the opportunity to play a character almost entirely different from her previous television persona.

In Shrimad Ramayan, she portrayed Mata Parvati, a role associated with spirituality, dignity and restraint. Aradhya, by comparison, is driven by personal ambition, emotion and immediate desires.

“The contrast couldn’t be bigger,” Aishwarya says about moving between the two roles.

She describes playing Aradhya as a liberating experience because the character allows her to explore emotions and behaviour that were not central to her previous role.

“With Aradhya, I get to be messy, impulsive, selfish, emotional and unpredictable.”

Aishwarya says the grey shades make Aradhya challenging

For an actor, playing a character whose decisions are personally difficult to agree with can provide a different kind of creative challenge. Aishwarya says that is precisely what makes Aradhya interesting for her.

Rather than judging every decision her character makes, she has to understand the emotional reasoning behind those choices and portray them from Aradhya’s perspective.

The actress says she does not want to restrict herself to characters who behave exactly as she would in real life. Playing Aradhya has instead allowed her to explore a more complicated personality with contradictory motivations.

As O Humnava Tum Dena Saath Mera moves into the post-wedding phase, Aradhya’s real challenge may therefore begin after achieving the relationship she worked so hard to secure.
