The actor discusses playing Arya Sahni, finding her footing in Mumbai and learning to move forward when auditions do not lead to roles.
Aditi Sandhya Sharma says working with Manoj Bajpayee on Gajab Raat taught her a lesson about professional excellence: an accomplished actor can make colleagues feel comfortable while remaining deeply committed to the work.
In an interview with The Times of India, Aditi recalled being nervous before sharing the screen with an actor she had long admired. His friendly manner, however, helped her settle into the experience.
An approachable co-star made the difference
Aditi described Bajpayee as warm and easygoing between takes. Casual conversations, including exchanges about lunch, helped make the set feel welcoming.
For her, that atmosphere offered room to concentrate on her performance and learn through observation. She was particularly struck by the ease with which he moved between everyday conversation and the demands of a scene.
The experience challenged her expectation that working with someone of his stature would necessarily feel intimidating.
Why Arya Sahni appealed to Aditi
Her character’s ambition was an important reason for accepting the audition. Aditi described Arya Sahni as determined to pursue her dreams and prepared to take risks.
Those qualities gave her a character she wanted to explore, making the script an immediate attraction.
Building a career after moving from Raipur
Aditi also discussed relocating from Raipur to Mumbai and adjusting to the uncertainty of acting. She acknowledged that difficult days can bring doubts, while encouraging experiences help restore a sense of purpose.
Her approach to missed opportunities is to learn from them and move forward, leaving room for roles she has yet to imagine.
