Randeep Hooda Says Bollywood Is Full of ‘Fragile Egos’ While Addressing ‘Difficult Actor’ Image

Actor Randeep Hooda has addressed the long-standing perception of him being “arrogant” or “difficult” in the film industry, saying that his blunt communication style and reserved nature were often misunderstood in Bollywood.

Known for performances in films such as Highway, Sarbjit and Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster, the actor recently spoke about industry insecurities, creative disagreements and his past fallout with filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma.

“I Was Too Blunt”

During a recent interview, Randeep explained that much of the perception surrounding him stemmed from his straightforward personality and his roots in Haryana.

The actor said people often misunderstood the way he communicated on film sets.

“Being from Haryana, the way we speak can sometimes sound aggressive to others even when it is completely normal conversation,” he shared.

Randeep added that he later realised how quickly conversations and misunderstandings spread within the industry, particularly through film crews and assistants.

Clarifies Rumours Around Creative Conflicts

The actor clarified that he rarely had disrespectful disagreements with directors over creative issues.

According to Randeep, apart from one instance involving filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s production house, he generally maintained professional relationships with directors and often tried multiple approaches during scenes.

He said:

• He usually completed most of his preparation before arriving on set
• He respected directors’ creative decisions
• He would perform both the director’s version and his own interpretation when needed

“Bollywood Has Fragile Egos”

Randeep also reflected on the social dynamics of the entertainment industry, suggesting that Bollywood can sometimes be driven by insecurity and diplomacy.

“The film industry is full of fragile glass egos and insecurities,” the actor said during the conversation.

He admitted that his unwillingness to network extensively or be overly diplomatic may have contributed to the rumours surrounding him.

According to Randeep, he later learned to communicate criticism in a softer and more polished way, even if his opinions remained the same internally.

Fallout With Ram Gopal Varma

The actor also spoke openly about his earlier fallout with filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma.

Randeep revealed that while the two had creative differences in the past, they eventually reconciled and continue to share a friendly relationship today.

He also disclosed that Varma offered him several projects after their disagreement, but he chose not to take them up because he felt the filmmaker’s rapid output at the time was affecting creative quality.

Passion for Horse Riding

Interestingly, Randeep shared that there was a period when horse riding and show jumping became more important to him than films.

The actor said he would sometimes prioritise national horse-riding championships over movie schedules.

However, he joked that maintaining horses eventually reminded him of the financial realities of life and brought him back to acting commitments.

On the professional front, Randeep Hooda was recently seen in the second season of Inspector Avinash, which is currently streaming on JioHotstar.

The actor continues to be recognised for his intense performances and unconventional film choices in Hindi cinema.
