Cybersecurity experts have issued fresh warnings about a growing wave of fake viral video scams circulating across social media platforms and messaging apps in 2026.

Terms such as “Mumbai Suresh”, “12:46 Viral Video” and “Sir Sir Please MMS” have recently gained traction online, particularly through Telegram, WhatsApp and X (formerly Twitter). However, experts say these trends are not real leaks but coordinated cyber scam campaigns designed to steal user data and spread malware.

‘Mumbai Suresh’ Viral Leak Explained

One of the latest scam trends uses the name “Mumbai Suresh” to create curiosity among users.

According to cybersecurity analysts, scammers are exploiting “local gossip psychology” by using a common Indian name alongside a city reference to make the content appear authentic.

Posts falsely claim that a man named Suresh from Mumbai was caught in a compromising situation, encouraging users to click links for the “full video.”

Experts warn that these links often redirect users to illegal betting websites, fake dating platforms or pages asking for sensitive financial details.

Authorities and cyber experts have stated that there is no verified “Mumbai Suresh” viral video linked to these claims.

What Is The ‘12 Minute 46 Second’ Viral Video Scam?

Another widely searched trend involves the phrase “12 minute 46 second viral video.”

Cybersecurity researchers say the unusual timestamp is part of an SEO poisoning strategy used by cybercriminals to manipulate search engine results.

By promoting specific durations like “12:46” or “9:44,” scammers create search terms that appear unique and attract curious users looking for “exclusive” content.

Once users open these websites, they are often prompted to install a fake “video player update.” Security experts warn that these downloads may contain Trojan malware capable of stealing passwords, banking credentials and personal information.

‘Sir Sir Please MMS’ Scam Uses Emotional Audio Clips

The “Sir Sir Please MMS” trend reportedly relies on emotionally charged audio clips to increase user engagement.

These posts usually feature blurry thumbnails combined with dramatic voice recordings, often involving a woman crying or pleading.

Investigators say many of these audio clips are recycled from older videos, staged content or unrelated footage.

The promised “full video” links frequently lead users to fake Instagram or Facebook login pages designed to steal account credentials.

Experts Warn About Coordinated Scam Networks

Cybersecurity analysts believe many of these campaigns are connected to organised cross-border cyber fraud groups.

Despite using different names and storylines, most of the scams follow a similar pattern:

  • Create curiosity or emotional panic
  • Push users toward suspicious links
  • Collect login credentials or financial information
  • Spread malware or redirect users to fraudulent platforms

Payal Gaming Case Highlighted Deepfake Risks

The growing concern around fake viral videos also follows several recent deepfake-related controversies online.

Content creator Payal Gaming previously spoke publicly after becoming a target of a viral fake video hoax in late 2025.

Following her complaint, Maharashtra Cyber Police reportedly investigated the matter and took action against individuals accused of spreading manipulated content.

Cyber experts say the case highlighted the importance of reporting fake content rather than engaging with it online.

How Users Can Stay Safe Online

Cybersecurity experts have advised users to avoid interacting with suspicious “viral video” links, especially those shared through Telegram groups, social media comments or unknown websites.

Safety Tips:

  • Do not click links promising “full leaked videos”
  • Avoid downloading unknown apps or video player updates
  • Never enter login credentials on suspicious websites
  • Report harmful content through platform reporting tools
  • Contact the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or helpline 1930 if targeted

Experts also warn that many so-called viral MMS clips are either fabricated, AI-generated deepfakes or entirely fake narratives designed to manipulate internet users.
