Former Bollywood actor Rimi Sen shares life lessons at a Dubai event

Actor Rimi Sen, best known for her roles in early 2000s hits like Hungama, Dhoom, Golmaal, Phir Hera Pheri and Johnny Gaddar, recently made headlines after sharing a candid life lesson at a Dubai event. The actor, who has transitioned from Bollywood to real estate in Dubai, spoke openly about money, career choices and personal priorities.

‘Everything Is a Game of Money’

Rimi Sen was a guest speaker at an event organised by Dubai-based real estate group Mytra Official, where she reflected on what she described as a “bitter truth” she has learned over the years.

Maine zindagi mein bas ek hi cheez sikhi hai — yeh sab paise ka khel hai, Babu Bhaiya. Paise ke upar kuch bhi nahi hai,” Rimi said, drawing applause from the audience.

She added that while earning money, one should continue to follow their morals, values and principles, but also focus on financial stability. According to her, money often takes precedence over dreams, respect and even relationships in real life.

Paise ke aagey izzat bhi nahi hai, paise ke aagey relation bhi nahi hai. Yeh ek bitter truth hai jo hum sab jaante hain,” she said, explaining that many people move away from their homes and loved ones in search of better financial opportunities.

Rimi encouraged people to put in whatever effort is required to secure their future, even if it means changing professions. “Jo kaam nahi karta, use turant chhod dena chahiye, kyunki waqt kabhi wapas nahi aata,” she said.

Why Rimi Sen Stepped Away from Bollywood

In a separate appearance on Buildcaps Real Estate LLC’s podcast, Rimi Sen opened up about why she chose to leave the Hindi film industry. She explained that she felt women often have a shorter career span in Bollywood.

Film industry mein career timeline zyada lamba nahi hota, especially women ke liye. Yeh male-dominated industry hai,” Rimi said, pointing out that actors like Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan continue to lead films even after decades.

She noted that many actresses who once starred opposite leading men are later reduced to supporting roles. Because of this, Rimi said she had planned her exit early — focusing on films, events and earnings before moving into production and business.

From Films to Financial Security

Rimi revealed that she produced Budhia Singh: Born to Run (2016), which went on to win a National Award. Soon after, she shifted her focus entirely to business.

Aaj main zyada safe hoon. Camera ke pressure se door hoon. Aakhir mein financial security aur freedom hi chahiye hoti hai,” she said.

Rimi Sen was last seen on screen in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Shagird (2011). Since then, she has largely stayed away from films, choosing a quieter but financially secure life in Dubai.
