Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who have been married for seven years, continue to charm fans with stories from their whirlwind romance. In a recent appearance on the Jay Shetty Podcast, Nick opened up about how he first noticed Priyanka, their early conversations, and the moment he knew he wanted to marry her.
From a Billboard to a DM
Nick recalled that his first introduction to Priyanka came unexpectedly.
“I was first introduced to Priyanka by seeing her billboard for Quantico. I remember thinking, wow, she is stunning,” he said.
He shared that a mutual acquaintance once mentioned they would get along, but nothing materialised for months. Growing impatient, Nick noticed Priyanka followed him on Twitter and decided to take the initiative. “I sent her a DM,” he said, adding that the two ended up texting for nearly a year before meeting in person.
Their First Meeting — and Being 45 Minutes Late
The couple finally decided to meet for a drink in New York. Nick admitted he almost left because Priyanka arrived 45 minutes late. “Which I now know is kind of a thing,” he joked.
Thankfully, he stayed. “She sat down, and we had a great conversation,” Nick said.
That same evening, the date extended to Priyanka’s home — where Nick met her mother, Madhu Chopra, for the very first time. “She was watching Law & Order. So yes, I met her mom on the first night. It was kind of perfect.”
‘I’m Going to Marry This Woman’
After months of long-distance conversations, Nick asked Priyanka out on a proper date in Los Angeles. He says the moment she walked in, something clicked instantly.
“She was wearing blue jeans, a white top, and a black leather jacket. I just thought — I’m going to marry this woman. I knew it right away,” he said.
Nick revealed that he told Priyanka he loved her after just the second or third date. Within 2.5 months, they were engaged, and three months later, they were married.
First Kiss, Wedding Day, and Everyday Quirks
Nick shared that their first kiss happened on the balcony of Priyanka’s hotel in Los Angeles. Reflecting on their wedding day, he said he wasn’t nervous — just worried about sweating in the heat.
“But when she walked down the stairs, I felt this overwhelming peace. I felt like I was exactly where I was meant to be,” he said.
The singer also spoke about their playful differences. Priyanka gets annoyed when Nick talks to her while texting at the same time, while Nick finds it funny when Priyanka calls him but speaks to someone else mid-conversation. He added that Priyanka laughs the most when he’s being “desi.”
Setting an Example for Daughter Malti Marie
Nick also opened up about fatherhood and responsibility. “The way I treat Priyanka will set an example for our daughter,” he said. “My job is to make her mother feel safe, loved, and happy.”
Speaking about keeping Malti Marie away from the spotlight, Nick said it would always be her choice. “The world is a strange place. If she ever wants this life, we’ll support her — but only if she chooses it.”
